Little Bit of Scouting on Darius Butler (And other Pats DB's)

I actually was going to post in the other thread that he really reminds me of Asante. I already thought it was a great pick-up and I just think he fell victim to politics. As this article pointed out, nothing was significantly better about Arrington, yet BB favored him over Butler after the "meltdown." By taking him out, he wasn't given a chance to redeem himself there and he fell out of favor permanently with BB.

Could have very well happened with a guy like Gamble if Fox was here for another year.

Well, time for redemption.

Again, we cheated too.. How do people forget these things?

so our offensive line roided it up in the Super Bowl run, big deal... what did it get us? We're probably the least respected team in the NFL, in the sense that no one cares about us. The Pats cheated their way to their Championship(s) and are still acclaimed by the media, writers, etc as if they are some sort of Football Gods. It's incredibly annoying, and I'll end this rant by saying Tom Brady is a douchebag. HAVE SOME MORE

Here is how to keep this in perspective:

Is he better than Stanford?

Did he cost us a draft pick or player?

Is his salary reasonable?

Does he have high upside?

Is he young?

How many teams in the NFL would have cut Butler?

Bottom Line: He should be under no pressure to start right away, but the pressure on him here will be less intense than in NE. They HATE NY there, especially the JETS and Ryan. Perhaps his double interference was overblown and the backlash got to him. Take him out of that mess, and he could be special.

If not, we cut him again. What was lost?

Why can't the Pats draft decent CBs anyway? Is it their scouting, or a problem coaching them up to NFL caliber?

Why is anyone still whining about 2003? That sort of thing reminds me of the guy in Napoleon Dynamite who videotaped his passing. It's history, done, over, kaput, capisce?
