The guy got cut because he wasn't going to start because of depth, and he wasn't stellar on special teams which is key for a back up so Belichick couldn't find a spot for him, it wasn't that he didn't have any promise. He's young, he's got potential, and it's a position of need. So, as a fan you should like the pickup as well. It helps the team.
