David Garrard Anyone?

i'd rather have him than Anderson to be honest, but we will NOT get him, i see him ending up as a backup somewhere. this is more of huge news for Jacksonville. they no longer have to pay Garrard, they are now going to start inexperienced Luke McCown and i will NOT be shocked to see Blaine Gabbert starting by week 4 or 5 if Luke McCown struggles, but i also wouldnt be shocked if McCown got hurt.

i think he'd be a good backup...better than clausen or anderson.

still...you've got to wonder why he's being let go like he is.

They talk about that on the article on NFL.com

According to them, he's pointing the finger too much at other players. Saying the O-Line isn't blocking, or interceptions are receiver's faults.

Garrard would be a great pickup, IMO. Dump Clausen and you get a legit veteran for Cam to learn from and a legit option if that OL gets Cam injured or he can't cut it. We all know if the line doesn't get any better that Anderson will simply get murdered behind it. At least Garrard is athletic and could buy some time.

I'd totally be behind adding him as long as we didn't dramatically overpay or sign him to some 5-6 year deal.

Garrard was one of the most sacked QB the last four years. He is athletic but he can't sense pressure. He would be no better than DA here.

Why did they cut him rather than trade him? Jacksonville saved 9 million by cutting him. Who was going to pick that up?? No one.

Will we try and sign him? Not a chance. He wants to start and we have Newton. It isn't going to happen at any price let alone for millions.

We have who we are going with, so other than a DT or some other waiver wire guy, we are pretty much set for better or worse.
