Getting into bed with that cartel doesn't seem like it's going to end well for the Sons.

nope, but man has it already shown its perks

wondering how they really found out that poo was going down... i don't believe it was a guy inside the russians that clued them in

btw, new sheriff isn't too smart

This vote that they are planning on having seems largely irrelevant. If they vote not to join the cartel, its not like the cartel will let them out of the deal that Clay has already made.

There's no way the writers could realistically get them out of their relationship with the cartel now. Even when Clay and Jax get enough cash to get out, the cartel would most likely just knock them both off rather than have two retired low level gun runners with an intimate knowledge of the cartel's supply chain just floating around out there waiting to be scooped up by the Feds for questioning. Those cartel guys already have the names, photos and locations of every SOA member and their families.

It's going to either end really badly for them, or we're going to have a soap opera plot twist to get them out of it, which to me is just about as bad as killing off all the major characters.

It makes me think that Sutter's written himself into a corner. On the Shield, whenever he wrote the Strike Team into a corner like this, Vic always had some other corrupt law enforcement agent or politician to protect him from the cartels/gangs and vice versa. Playing the two against each other was what made him such a great character.

With the Sons, they're just a low level biker gang that runs guns. Clay has basically made them the cartel's bitch and they have no connections to anyone big enough to protect them if they get on the outs with the cartel, no one to play them against. The Irish are loyal to 'the cause' and will sell to whoever has the cash and they're not going to get into a Trans Atlantic war with the Mexicans over SOA. The only way I see them getting out is turning state's evidence and joining witness protection, which would be lame.

So, trying to detangle themselves from the cartel...the way Sutter kills Jax and Clay? Or just a red herring?

Has to be a red herring, if Sutter really intends to make this show for seven seasons. Still, even if he kills the two main characters on the show, how in the hell does he detangle the rest of them from the cartel? I can't imagine the rest of them would put up much resistance to continuing the relationship once the Pres and VP have been murdered. After watching the Shield for so long, I have a little bit of faith in Sutter. It'll be fun to watch and see.

Was the Shield a good show?

Yes. It's probably pretty obvious from my posts that I'm a big fan of the show, but it really was well done. It's where Kurt Sutter got his start and really developed into a head writer/producer. There were seven seasons of the Shield, so if you find yourself going through SOA withdrawal in the offseason, definitely give it a try.

I never thought I'd buy the guy from 'The Commish' as a bad ass, corrupt cop, but the writing and the acting made it totally believable.
