The sky is not falling, the offseason is not over, and there is still hope for our beloved Carolina Panthers to succeed next year. I have read many absurd posts saying how we have no shot next year, and I can do nothing but shake my head. The main reason for people to panic is depth. Who was Frank Omiyale before we signed him and what round again did we draft Geoff Hangartner. We have Geoff Schwartz and the kid from Bentley whose name I cannot spell as depth, and you can rest assure we will draft and sign some depth. Keydrick Vincent was a low key signing last year and look how he turned out. This is the first time ever where the Panthers are going into a season with the offense pretty much in hand.

Now to the defense. Ron Meeks is going to play a huge role with this defense. His scheme will better fit our players, and he was successful in Indy with less talent. I truly believe Julius is coming back. It reminds me of the Strahan saga in 2007. He sat out until the season and then won a super bowl. He will be paired with Johnson for years to come. Pep, Johnson, and Brayton combined for about 25 sacks last year which is not too bad, and Johnson is only going to improve. The only concern I really have on this team is cornerback depth. There may not be a bigger Richard Marshall hater out there than me and I dont trust CJ Wilson as the Nickel Back. I believe our first pick will be used on a CB. Finally I honestly belive we are signing Robertson. Hopefully Fox can work his magic and resurrect his career. This will also allow us to move Lewis back to his more effective role. This leaves our defense to look like:

Johnson-Kemo-Robertson-Peppers

Diggs-Beason-Davis

Gamble-Harris-Godfrey-Marshall

Reserves: Lewis, Brayton, Connor, Wilson not too shabby ify ou ask me.

So I leave you with this, this team has a lot of talent and there is still a lot of time left in this offseason. So lets not judge this team until its finished.

i agree people need to calm down a bit. AND PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT JAY CUTLER IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. we have basically the same team right now that went 12-4 last year and is already one of the favs for the super bowl this year. the only thing im not sure about is the peppers situation. if were gonna keep him thats great, but we need to sign him to a long term deal. and if we want do that its gonna be stupid for us to pay someone that much that dont wana be here. but i honestly think this team is gonna be alright and when were in the playoffs again this year hopefully everyone will agree

While I don't think the sky is falling, OP, here's the problem with what you wrote:

First off, you have NO proof Meeks will change anything. Let's wait til game one to see how he and Fox mesh.

You think Pep is coming back. I'm 50/50 on that. But if he does, where will we be getting the money to sign our draft picks AND the Robertson you covet? He's not going to turn down 17 million dollars for ONE season to sign something long term when he doesn't even want to BE HERE. Be prepared for that being the case. So we can't bring in much depth unless Jake restructures and even that may not do the trick entirely.

I get how you are sick of the doom and gloomers, but the cap issue is a fact if Pep stays. So posters are correct and their "hmm, this may be a crappy situation for us" thougts and their posts deserve fair debate. So...DON'T use "Pep will resign" as a answer and please tell me how we can add depth with Pep getting his almost 17 mil?

:iamwithstupid: Could not have said it better myself.

I wonder if other teams forums have gay/lame terms such as 'doom and gloom' or 'sky is falling', or is its usage relegated to Panthers fans who think their opinions are better than everyone else's.

If you post something you feel is bad or state a negative fact about the team you're a doom and gloomer, so if you post a positive opinion or fact about the team are you a homer?

Most people in forums are way to high strung and insistently overreact to any statement or opinion. Atleast we dont have to deal with the all caps most of these people like to type in anymore.

What I see is that people that are predicting doom and gloom at this point are very premature and rushing to a judgment that may be totally incorrect.

We are only 2 weeks into free agency and a full month before the draft. On the other hand people predicting we will win the division or go 12-4 next year are homers and prematurely optimistic.

The most sensible approach in my opinion is to see what unfolds over the next several months and then form an opinion that is based on facts and is informed rather than taking sides at this point.

What is the big rush to make a decision or advance an opinion about how we will do next fall in March?? Sure everyone has a right to say whatever they want but don't expect not to be taken to task at this point either.

The same applies to what will happen with Peppers, how the defense will look and a number of other issues.

Does Beason saying we will be changing to a Tampa 2 style defense count?
