Those of you that think our approach at DT (i.e. going into the year with 3 DTs with 1 game starting experience between the 3) is the correct one for long term team success have very short memories.

Any of you remember a DT by the name of Edwards? The one we all thought was a great signing? Was he a rookie or a scrub?

Why is it now irrational for some of us to think he should be replaced with another vet?

I agree with most of whay you write most of the time but with this one, I disagree Zod!

Do I think we make the playoff this year? Nope

Do I believe we are a couple of postions (DT, DB) away from winning 8 games? You bet!

Why the hell would we not bring in a DT and DB to immediately upgrade of D THIS year (what is out there right now is a lot better that what we have). All while the youngsters learn the ropes.

Godfrey primarily played corner in college and was converted after we drafted him. He'll only be playing corner in the nickel package, anyway. So no, it's not a joke.

Some of you are still under the impression that the Panthers are trying to piece together a playoff team this year.

They aren't.

Right now they are more interested in young guys who show the most promise. They plan to crack open a window of contention that will last roughly 5-6 years starting as early as next season.

So if the Panthers do sign a rookie DT that shows promise, be happy. If they sign a second year WR that has the potential to be a solid #2 in this league... be happy.

In short, get your head out of your collective asses and start thinking in years, not weeks.

w00t! Ok! Then why bother going to games, guys? Why bother even watching? If they aren't interested in going for a Playoff spot this year, but are instead just trying to build for the future, shouldn't we care when that future is here?

Look, this isn't college basketball. The point is not to watch a bunch of freshmen grow up into upperclassmen as a talented team together. Stupid basketball State. The point of the NFL, every single season, is to win and win now.

This team is not good enough to win each week, so you people try to make excuses that we're in a "rebuilding year". That's crap and you know it. We all know we're not good enough, and we're going to lose. But eventually they will build the right roster, by drafting AND signing FAs (the key to success in the NFL, btw) and will compete the VERY year they do that properly. But to try and say we're not trying to piece together a Playoff team is a cop out. Go ahead, argue with me. You know you want to.

The NFL is ALL about winning, and it's damn hard to do so. So be happy when we sign a no name scrub and just tell yourself that the FO knows what it's doing and this scrub will be a Probowler in a year or five? That's all you guys have to go on this year I guess.

Jesus Christ guys can we play a game with game planning etc....our oline is back and our run game and TEs will make this offense explosive. I am worried about the DT position but all we have to do is mesh well like the game against the giants. After we smoke the cards you doom and gloom fags will change your tune. There's this thing I like to call "reality". And reality is that we're not likely to look very good in the Win-Loss column this season.

Could we surprise? Sure, but there are reasons why us winning a lot of games would be considered "a surprise".

One team wins the Super Bowl every year. Thirty-one others don't. Of those, some contend while others just do the best they can. Given that, if you wanna play "demanding fan" and insist that every year is Super Bowl or bust, that's your right.

But it's not reality.
