I have always been a Marty Hurney supporter. Some of his trades bothered me, but I could at least understand the rationale. What I have seen this week has changed my mind 100 percent. What we have done at DT, and to a slightly lesser extent at CB, is almost unforgivable.

JR said we were going to be aggressive this offseason. Early signs were very encouraging that we were committed to improving the roster. I like the signing of Edwards and of course the trade for Olsen.

All along, I was sure Marty had a plan to address our weaknesses. We weren't going to be able to sign stars at every position, but we had enough cap space to do pretty much anything within reason.

Things came together pretty well on the offensive side of the ball, and we picked up serviceable vets in MJG and the Hangman. Added some wide outs to a shaky group.

But on the defense, we cut Brown and did nothing to upgrade that spot. We let go several DT's and CB's at final cuts when it is now clear there was no plan on how to replace them. Good players are still out there unemployed and we do nothing but bring in waiver pickups.

We had a great opportunity to be very competitive without breaking the bank. In my opinion, we are blowing that opportunity, and I'll bet there are players on the defensive side of the ball thinking the same thing.
