Yup.

Brad Johnson Games Started 125 Record 72-53-0 57%

Jake Delhomme Games Started 96 Record 56-40-0 58%

Almost the same win %

BJ - 82.5 QBR

JD - 81.2 QBR

They are the same except 1 won a Super Bowl. No one in Tampa has even thought to retire his number.

Apples/Oranges as far as what Jake meant to this organization vs. what Brad meant to the Bucs.

This really comes down to a matter of opinion so there's no point arguing about who is "right".

Sam Mills is not one of the all-time greats at LB, so why have we unofficially retired his #? It's because he meant more to this team then just his on-field performance.

If you were to make a Mt. Rushmore of the Panthers right now, I think Jake's face belongs on it and his # deserves consideration for retirement.

Bottom line, this is a silly discussion since the Panthers don't retire numbers. I would just prefer to not see someone running around out there in # 17, too soon for my taste.

Jake might have meant that much to you and again that's your opinion.

I hope he does do the 1 day contract and retire a Panther....but we better not be paying for his plane ticket or hotel.

#51 was retired in 2005.

That's correct, and we did that not long after he died in April of 2005, so we all know it had as much if not more to do with who he was off the field and what he meant to this organization as it did with his performance.

I'm not arguing against retiring Mills # or giving him a statue, just pointing out the decision to retire a # isn't always a matter of performance and how many SB's you won... it's based on what you meant to the organization as well and Jake meant a lot to this organization as evidenced by the press conference they held when he was cut.
