There have been times when I thought I'd rather see him at corner than safety.

Safety is more cerebral, and Godfrey seems like more of a "reactor".

This, in our scheme especially (with mostly man coverage) CB is a very simple job... you line up on your guy and keep him from getting the ball.

You know what really chaps my ass. They say there are no good CBs left out there, but there was one perfectly good CB available named Carlos Rogers and we totally dropped the ball.

Throw in that as a hitter/tackler, Godfrey isn't necessarily as physical as you might want in a safety, but relatively speaking he'd be a decent hitter for a cornerback.

Also worth remembering that we're no longer playing John Fox's "interchangable safeties" game.

exactly, bad tackler as a safety, turns to solid as a corner. I can see him having more success blitzing from the nickel aswell than your average corner.

something else i've thought might happen based on what i saw at camp. pugh, martin & godfrey all lined up at corner some while i was there. putting godfrey at nickel is similar to the way the packers use woodson. i also think riveria & staff feel that hogan might play this year imo

If the team has better options at safety then why not try him at corner. He has the speed and experience. Who knows but at least see what he can do at the nickel. If it works out, it will go down as a great idea.

As for calling about Brown, I think he meant to see if he was even worth picking up off the street. Probably asking if Rivera thought he could cover in a 3-4 or something.

Reed confirms that calls asking about Brown came after his release, not before (Twitter).

He would be THE most physical corner we've had. Thats why I always said they should move him there. Good size, strength and speed. Everything else come with playing the position. He might shed about 10 pounds

i don't understand why people think godfrey is not physical, he's just not a big hitter like chris harris
