I thought that a good way to bolster the argument would be to cite all of the players who had been cut and went on to successful careers with other teams. But I couldn't really think of any off the top of my head. Maybe someone else can think of examples?

One could start with John Unitas who was cut by Pittsburgh

Kurt Warner was kicked all the way to Europe

Bob Kuchenberge and Jim Langer both played in Dolphins Super Bowls both were cut

Willie Brown cut by Oilers in H O F with Raiders

James Harrison cut by Steelers 3 times before he became a sack master

Jake Delhomme cut by Saints

Some cut players just need a new system with coaches that believe in them

Some need to get their head's on

Some cut players failed to step their game up in the pro's

From Pee Wee to Pro's

Ever level demands more B/C the talent gets better, crap you could do the level before may not work as the talent gets better.

it all depends on how strong the team is at the position. like with that thomas guy from the cowboys....CB is as weak as WR for us. i could see people maybe being interested in an LB or an RB from the panthers, but not a WR.

he was a CB that was cut from a team that was weak at CB.

it's a valid way to judge. what else is there to go on? college scout reports? lol

The Cowboys thought just like you did and thought he'd pass through waivers and they would be able to put him on practice squad for this year. Didn't work out well for them though. The Cowboys liked him, but not for this year. Which is what the Panthers are mainly looking at with these waiver pickups.
