Clowney, Keiser, Payne, Browning Cut

We all have players we watch hoping they make the team. It is Bell for me this year. And we try and keep up with them where ever they go. BUT, getting cut by the Panthers cannot look good on the ol' resume.

This staff is going to do anything they can come up with to try and improve this team. IMO, Rivera and CO. have a pretty good idea of who they are looking for. Unfortunately, at this point in time, they may have to install a revolving door on the locker room.

Short story long, we have holes at DT, CB, WR, G, and maybe FB. Going to interest me watching how this unfolds.

My Giddy is having growig pains. And GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!

Ugh WTF. I'm usually the first person to defend this new staff but cutting Clowney just pisses me off. The guy has done much more than any other WR to earn the #2 spot yet they cut him and sign some unknown guy that no one has ever heard of in their entire life. I wouldn't care if they were making moves to actually improve the team, but they're making moves just to get their old buddies from their former team.

this seems like rivera wants people he knows over people with potential

Can anyone make an argument that Armanti Edwards is a better receiver than Clowney is? You can't because he's not. I was pleased to see they bit the bullet and cut Everette Brown; they should have done the same with Armanti Edwards.

You must have forgotten the memo: AE is our #3.;)

Clowney has been in the league for four years. We know what he is capable of.

Edwards is only a year removed of playing quarterback, and his ceiling is far higher than Clowney's.

Like someone else in this thread said, we have too many mediocre receivers. I'm not saying this new guy won't be yet another one, but I can understand parting ways with Clowney.

I keep hearing about this supposedly high ceiling that Armanti has. I've yet to see any flashes from him in two years. Am I supposed to think he's a future Pro Bowl receiver? I've seen the same indication of that ever happening with him as me, i.e. none.

There have been no flashes from Clausen either yet everyone's through with him. I'm almost sickened by the number of excuses people give Armanti Edwards.

Armanti has at least shown his speed and elusiveness on a few occasions. Comparing him with Clausen is not fair. Plus Clausen has been demanded to produce the past year and a half where AE has not(sucks for Jimmy). But even still all he has shown is that he can throw it out of bounds.

For me, this is really less about Ajirotutu than it is dumping Clowney to keep a guy with mittens. After what I seen for a little over a year, "upside" is a term that is overrated and overused. It's kind of like snake oil, an all encompassing panacea, a free pass given to the mediocre that is allowed to be extended too many times.

Steve Smith doesn't need a receiver with oven mitts---a guy with some unforeseen upside, he needs a receiver on the opposite side and in the slot who can catch the damned ball, and Clowney could do that.
