Welcome Marcus Harrison

I found this from ESPN:

The defensive tackle started training camp in the club's doghouse by reporting 11 pounds overweight, and missed the first five practices because he was placed on the non-football injury list.

Harrison showed progress toward the end of camp, but the improvements obviously weren't significant enough to warrant the club keeping him.

"To be honest, this is the best camp I've had since I've been here, even though I was slowed down as far as being behind the eight ball," Harrison said. "Every game I graded out good, except for [the game against the New York Giants]. Practice had been good. But I missed some days to compete for a spot."

Maybe the kid will end up starting? sounds like a great pick up.

Really? They wouldn't let him practice because he was 11lbs overweight? That just doesn't sound right. Kris Jenkins would have never played a snap in his last 5-6 seasons if the Panthers and Jets had that rule. He is not alone either. 11 lbs is nothing for somebody who weighs over 300lbs and who's job involves taking on blocks from other 300lb men. That's like one meal for these guys.

Not sure what people are seeing in this guy. He went from part time starter in 2009 (after being a #3 guy in 2008) to basically mr invisible in 2010, with just 96 snaps played. He could turn out ok, but he hasn't done anything int he pro's that suggests he would.

Personally I would be favouring Neblett over this guy.

I don't think Neblett will be over this guy but who knows maybe I am wrong. I think we got a steal in this guy. Chicago has had a great defense the past ten years and are loaded at DT so he wasn't cut because he was bad but cut because of the numbers game. I can see him starting with Mcclain coming in as a rusher. We still need one more DT. I thought Gabe Watson was cut, if so I would love to see us pick him up.

Chicago's sixth-string DT enters the foray as a possible starter. Look out, world.

Well that's ignorant.

Albert Haynesworth was the 5th or 6th defensive tackle on the Redskins roster last pre-season. Maybe Harrison just didn't want to be there.

He started there for his rookie and sophomore seasons so obviously he's talented. If he gets his weight down, he can be an animal.

I will be happy with him if he isn't our #1. If we still get Pat Williams or Tommie Harris then we'll be set at DT.

After hearing some folks talk about Tommie Harris, I went back and watched the third preseason game against the packers. He had a sack, had good pressure, held the point , commanded double teams and showed lots of hustle. At least in that game, he was bringing it. I would like to see him added as well.

Works both ways though.

Tyler Brayton was just "some scrub from the Raiders" before he actually played well.

Harrison's as much a potential pick as anything. He's had some games where he's looked decent. Eric Washington likely put in a good word for him since he'd have seen him last season. Also factor in the alternatives were guys like Nick Hayden and Corvey Irvin.

Regardless, I doubt we're done there.
