Welcome George Selvie

Well, if you're pretty sure one guy isn't going to work, and you think that another guy might, even if he hasn't shown much either, then maybe you take a chance on the other guy. Doesn't cost much, right?

Very true, like I said I am just unconvinced about the methodology and why drop one for the other.

Just seems like the 'grass is always greener' mentality.

I saw that he was cut yesterday and thought he would be a nice pick up but very unlikely because of the depth we had at the D line, with the Brown cut this is a nice replacement. I guesss this guy is just like another Brown project. Hopefully he will end up being more successful.

I also think the guy was coming off an injury his senior year so maybe he hasn't healed up yet?

I really liked him coming out in the draft... Although, his rookie year seems pretty unimpressive.

But from when I watched him in college, he's already coming in with more moves to free himself than EB ever had, and I don't recall ever seeing him do a spin move... So we're in good shape .

This guy BETTER be good or the Panthers are in big trouble. Dline needs a lot of help.

Selvie will be nothing more than a rotational guy. Our Defensive ends are okay with Johnson and Hardy. its defensive tackle that we need to worry about. I don't think Fua and McClain are ready to be starters. The signing of Harrison should help out a lot. I could see us signing one vet DT and CB before week one. The best move to improve our defense was to cut the bad players like Brown and Hayden, this alone should immediately improve our defense.

I was confused when I heard we signed Selvie. I kinda understand why they cut Brown, to "move on", but I do not understand signing a similar project.

Because Selvie might not be a bust like Brown turned out to be. He didn't cost a thing to get and we need some depth at Dline. If he turns out to be a bust then oh well we didn't give up anything for him and if he turns out to be a decent player then we just got a steal. From what I saw from him his senior year he was coming off an injury so maybe he wasn't a 100% last season. Either way we have him on our roster and we will have to watch him play until something happens to him so enjoy.
