The thing is, last time I checked, the Cowboys CB position was a huge question mark, and this guy got cut.

Many of their fans and media question how good Newman is now and if he was worth the money he's making... He supposedly was close to being cut... Then they have Jenkins who looked horrible at times last year. And IIRC just extended Scandrick who they like, who I thought was their NB last year, but could be wrong...

And this guy seems to have good numbers and was well-regarded in college, yet, he got cut?

thats some of the problem i am having. if hey were stocked with tons of talent and was a true strong point, then i'd feel good about it. that isn't the case. CB has been seen as one of their weakest points. i'm just not in love with this.

re: reports from college....people keep on posting scouting report, but once they get into the pros and have a year or two under their belts, those reports just don't carry much weight.

when i'm trying to research a free agent, i never look at college scouting reports. i look for reports of actual pro production from local beat reporters or at least comments from OTAs and training camps. i can understand wanting to get some..any info on the guy, but college scouting reports just don't do it for me.

He should be a very solid dimeback immediately and work his way up. What little research I did on him suggests that he fits into the cover-2 scheme more which is right up Meeks' alley. He isn't our solution for a #2 corner, but being a rookie is just adding weapons to our arsenal moving forward. If we can lock in a #2 corner, all of a sudden our DB situation goes from an achilles to a solid unit.

To those wondering why he got cut by Dallas even given their questions at corner, it was likely due to money. Newman, and Jenkins make too much money and they knew he wasn't doing to be in the rotation before a guy like Scandrick as well.

I like the pick up, did it blow me away, no; though it did seem like a better addition than our other DB's at the nickel, dime spots.

Not to mention my Madden team looks a bit better at the DB spot too, 88 speed, 67 man, 81 zone, 79 press. Oh, also Brandon Hogan on the virtual grid-iron is a beast he's my #2.
