I'd be okay with the team releasing Clausen, honestly.

He's in a situation where he needs a fresh start, and he isn't going to find that here. And we're in a situation where we could use that roster spot for someone else that could actually contribute.

After watching that Bengals game..and how he got destroyed the entire game..it was time to be done with him. He didn't contain, he sucks at the run defense, and Rivera even said during camp..he had to be more consistent and stopping the run..something Hardy and Johnson are much better at.

Anyone mad about the 1st rounder needs to realize that pick would've ended up being Clausen anyway, so it's a bit of a blessing in disguise.

Basically cost us two 2nd rounders rather than a 1st.

I think we would have went after one of the receivers taken near that pick, either Bryant or Thomas. You have to remember that Moore had just finished the 2009 season like a man and getting him help would have been more of a priority than another quarterback. I believe we took Clausen due to "talent" dropping in the draft, a good example would be Rodgers and Green Bay.

How did this go down?

Rivera: What the hell were you thinking Marty?

Marty: *crickets*

Same thing could happen with Armanti.

It will next season if he doesn't perform this year. another hurney "trade up" getting cut might cause him to be the next one in line to get the ax. that would make two huge misses. if you consider clausen, even though we didn't trade up to get him, that would make 3 significant duds at the top of our drafts in a very short time span. i would think that would be enough to reconsider hurney's position with the team.
