Everette Brown Waived!

It's very easy for the assholes who said he was a bust from the start to make hay right now. Here is your gold plated achievement medal. Enjoy it.

If it had went the other way an entirely different group of people would be puffing their chests out.

Anyone who tells you the "knew" he would never work out is lying plain and simple.

Both groups are typical assholes IMO. It was a solid risk to take at a time when high draft picks were potential bottomless pits of guaranteed cash and the impending CBA slap-fights were on the horizon.

Whether I think/thought he would work out is as irrelevant now as it was/would have been on draft day. As a Panther fan, I am sorry he did not work out. We really needed him to.

But all the know-it-alls who saw it coming and want some pats on their backs or reacharounds or whatever the fvck they are bucking for can get back to talking how right they were and then get back to Madden.

Heh.

Any idiot with a basic understanding of the requirements to be a DE on a 4-3 are going to see he was undersized. Hell, the draft analysts said it when he was picked.

It's a shame Hurney did this to Brown. He should have used the pick for something else. Like, IDK, a WR.

You have to remember who our defensive coordinator was at the time.

He has a great spin move. Unfortunately, he never developed anything else.

I gave pretty tempered praise when asked for an opinion and left the door very much open that he could be a bust all while pointing out he couldn't gain much more weight and there was a knock against him getting production against poor competition. This while other people were claiming he's the next Freeney.

HARFHARFHARF DELHOMMEY IS SUCH A HOMER HARFHARFHARF

Actually he has a shitty spin move. That's why he's been cut.

His technique was fine. Unfortunately, he was one of those guys whose speed/strength was always just a little short of where it needed to be in order for him to be effective.

Some guys just don't have the physical talent. Hard work closes the gap for some, but not all of them. Brown worked plenty hard, but it just wasn't there.

It happens.

because there have never been any successful undersized DE's and draft analysis is always gospel.

heh indeed

You have to have something exceptional about you to be undersized at DE. Freeney is lightning quick and counters that outside speed move with a killer spin move. Dumervil (sp) has freakishly long arms and great balance which allows him to dip and rip a lot.

Brown was just moderately fast, not very strong....and with meh technique.

now he has to be a pro-bowler. In a time when we cannot even keep our probowl DE's in spite of offering top defensive player in the league money because the entire coaching staff and direction sucks ass, we are supposed to draft and develop a probowler.

right

I said successful yet undersized. Now you want weight, height, scheme, and of course, Hawaii. LMAO.

Hawaii is where they used to have the probowl btw

LMAO indeed.

You are making an argument that people were "assholes" about Brown, saying other DEs were "undersized" and "successful", without having any supporting evidence or facts to back up your claim.

FACT: To be "successful" in the NFL as a Defensive End that is on a defense that runs a 4-3, you need size and strength, or some other tangible physical asset like quickness.

This isn't anything against Brown. I'm sure he has a good work ethic and tried really hard to fill the role he was put in. But if you don't have what it takes physically to do what has been asked of you, then you don't have what it takes. Hurney should have known better. Kinda like assuming a QB has the hands to make catches.

I've said for over a year he will do MUCH better on a 3-4 as a LB. I hope someone picks him up for that kind of role and he has a shot to play in the league still. It would be a shame if poor judgement on Hurney's part cost this kid a future with the NFL.
