Everette Brown Waived!

Our RB's and LB' are stellar and I don't regret them in the slightest. But the whole Delhomme situation, Delhomme vs. Moore, Delhome extension, lack of #2 WR, scrub DT's can be partially blamed on Hurney.

But it also has to do with Fox being a lameass, and the idea that we have sign guys that are candyass fairies with no attitude. Kemo also went down when we desperately needed him.

I blame the Peppers fiasco on Peppers. He wanted out but he was being an asshole about it.

I will defend the Keary Colbert draft until the end of time because he could clearly play in the NFL. If I had to guess I'd say the departure of Moose and the apathy of the Panthers coaching staff towards young players ruined him.

The Panthers as a team didn't handle that well. From Richardson calling Peppers out to "lead," to Fox babying/defending him, to Hurney not getting anything for him but a third. It's important to keep in mind that Peppers was essentially the biggest white elephant in nfl history, but sometimes you gotta make shitty decisions.

oh so you brought up something completely unrelated to what I was talking about? good job.

yeah as a matter of fact taking cost into consideration does matter a lot.

Ok, I will grant that in the rigid context if precisely what you're talking about, Everette Brown is the worst action in franchise history. I don't agree that he is part of the worst trade of picks, nor do I think he was the worst use of a first round pick, nor do I think he's even close to the worst second round pick. But in the confines of your discussion, he's obviously the worstest ever. :)

Fiz,

Much like I will never believe that 9/11 was an inside job, and Jonah actually didn't get swallowed by a whale, I won't believe that Marty Hurney handled those situations correctly.

Doesn't mean I am stupid, or uneducated, it means that I didn't like how they were handled, and will not change my stance on that.

Yeah Keary Colbert did look like he could be somebody for a short time. It's amazing how he just faded out like that. Carter was someone we should have kept imo. Even if he was going to just be a deep #3 threat and an occasional #2 he still brought speed and another dynamic to the offense aside from Smith.

I still disagree with the Peppers situation. He handled it childishly. He was a grown ass 29 yr old man. There's nothing wrong with asking one of your best players to be a leader. He deserved to be called out.

Whoa, careful backpedaling so fast there, cowboy.

Remember, originally you said

He is the reason we picked no. 1 last season, and are staring it in the face again this season.

Marty should have been fired years ago.

Are you backing off of that claim in the face of almost no pressure? Or are you trying to use a handful of specific instances in a 9 year career to support your larger point?

If the former is true, why are you still posting? You've obviously been outmaneuvered.

If the latter is true, are you ready to dismiss the good moves, and explain why what you think is bad outdoes what everyone else thinks is good?

That also assumes those points were all Hurney's fault, which is not something you should assume because you're very uninformed!

Different people need to be handled differently.

TheFuzz, for example, needs to have his hand held. It'd be unfair of us to expect him to be a competent, useful member of this internet community.

I'd say picking Thomas Davis over Aaron Rodgers, well, what more can be said.

We needed a young QB.

We draft a Safety and try and turn him into a LB, wastes a couple of years.

Thomas is a nice linebacker; but.....

Let us hope with a new regime on the coaching side that the GM will not be allowed to draft people not in their natural position or not worth of their draft position. I hope we become more like the Patriots, it is the only way in this salary cap space to be a contender, when a veteran is done, they are done, when a 1st/2nd round doesn't perform, drop them (Merriweather).

Quick with a deadly spin move, he's better than you'd think against the run but obviously could use some work. He can be telepathic on the snap count. It's no secret Nole DE's haven't had a lot of success in the NFL (one problem is FSU lines them out wide and puts a high priority on speed) and I would be worried if we had a gapping hole at DE or weren't going to be running a Meeks Tampa 2.

As with any DE, there is bust potential, but I am very happy about this pick.

lol
