Free Agent Signings Thread

I'm just frustrated that this organization never learns from it's mistakes.

It happens every year and it never fails.

Panthers go into offseason with glaring needs at a position.

Fans see it. Local media see it. National media see it.

Quality, proven players come available at that needed position.

Team ignores them.

Signs "up and comers" or "guys they really liked coming out"

Players, as expected, suck.

No quality players remain.

Season starts and glaring needs turns into a glaring hole.

Glaring hole spends the season as a revolving door of sub par, rushed free agent talent.

Glaring hole costs us games.

It all could have been avoided by biting the bullet and going against your "philosophy" and signing some decent available players. It. Never. Fails. Every. Year.

I get the frustration... I like what we've done in the draft under Hurney for the most part and I think he's great at finding value from top to bottom of the draft... But, then days like this are when I feel like we follow our stated personnel philosophy to a fault.

Like today... there was absolutely no reason to not put a claim in on Tate, knowing we were looking for an upgrade from Clowney anyway... What do we do? Waive Clowney and sign a 2nd year UDFA with one good game on his resume, who had the benefit of playing in one of the most WR friendly offenses in the league (yes we run a similar system) in huge part due to their Top 5-level QB.

Excuse me for not being hyped. Dude has very little physical tools aside from his size, and Naanee is a more athletic version of him. I don't get it.

And then you look at CB... Nevermind... Let's not.

I just hope we sign some quality vets out there now and not downgrade even more.

Waiting until after week 1, in hopes that the players we need will still be unsigned so we don't have to carry their contracts.

Hint: they won't be.

And the other problem with this is, even if they are, we are acknowledging that we're okay with taking a loss in week 1.

The CB position is HORRIBLE right now. Even with Harrison added at DT, we will NOT stop anyone with him alone... This is bad AS-IS.
