one week audition? so we're going to treat the arizona game as a throw away game? gtfo!

No we should sign every FA out here guaranteeing their contracts and seeing them suck just as hard as Thomas and co.

Most teams wait to sign veterans until after week one.

Who? Sorry to break it to you, but these guys are here to stay. We're not treating week one as a 5th preseason game. I don't know of any team that does that and dumps week 1 into the toliet only for it to bite them in the ass at the end of the season.

Well, since Safety is a DB, it would be an easy transition. CB, however, would be much more difficult. Sherrod's learned the safety position over the last two seasons in the NFL. He's studied the tendencies of the position. Also, he's had to learn safety in a completely new system, where blitzes are constantly used.

The coverages are different, the looks are different, the zones are different. And he would have to learn this stuff during the regular season. Could he do it? I absolutely believe he could. But, he would be learning while playing in games that actually matter.

Anyone the team signs is going to have to learn the defense on the Fly. Also, who's to say that the team hasn't been playing Martin at CB since practice has been closed????? He would be in a better position then anyone the team could claim or sign. He's a starter (Starter potential) type of guy who would immediately upgrade the CB 2 spot. It moves the Captn back to his natural Nickel position and makes more sense then the team claiming or signing anyone to start as there really isn't anyone out there worth the risk now.
