I remember the year we signed him and Wahle and how great of a feeling it was because they were 2 of the top free agents. Fast forward to now and there were some great times for both but too much money spent in the long run and now they are both gone. This is a good reason why you build from the draft for the long run and not throw around money is FA for short term success.

this might be just passed off by some as blatant gossiping by me, and it is, but i've heard this from two players and a trainer.

lucas is gayer than a damn macy's day float. his idea of practical jokes is to hit on guys in the shower. some of them don't care, some of the brush it off, and some of them are rabidly homophobic...like steve smith!

of course lucas thought it was hilarious to make smith so uncomfortable, so he kept doing it.

when smith beat the poo out of him, that wasn't just what happened on the field. everyone knew what was coming, had told him to stop, and he just kept on keeping on. smith snapped on the field, but only they know what officially broke the camel's back.

also in 2005 they apparently got into a big fight in the locker room over something too that never got reported.

I'd bet you the Patriots are kicking themselves in the ass right now for signing Bodden...

Hmmm..if you saw the deal they got with Bodden you wouldn't likely say that. $2.25 million with $1 million guaranteed and a no franchise clause. Pretty reasonable for a young CB with upside who has played in a similar system (Cleveland) IMO.

Lucas was beaten more often than anyone in the secondary last year, there is no debate about that. That isn't to say Marshall didn't struggle last year, because he did. But he also looked like a future stud in 06-07. I think 2008 was an anomaly, Chris Gamble has played awful at times in his career and look at him now.

Yeah, but a couple of years ago, fans were saying he was going to be the best. What happened? Our line broke down in pass protection. Not many corners are going to be effective being 10 yards off the player with a line that allowed 4+ seconds to allow the QB to throw. He may be exactly right for us, but we will need another for sure, be it FA or draft...

LOL, Lucas will be signed by the end of the week for much more than veteran minimum my friend... you are underestimating the CB market right now, teams are snatching up CB's with any kind of starting experience like they are going out of style.

Yeah I'm sure he will get a lot more than the veteran minimum, but I doubt he will see anything close to what his last year would have paid out. If I were Lucas's agent I would have advised him to accept the trade to Detroit, so he was making top tier money for next year, and still had one last chance to prove he's still worth big money

I hope Marshall is up to the task cus Id really like to see him and Gamble form a young CB tandem.

This kind of sucks to see him go.

He's one fo the few guys who always fought hard and gave maximum effort, it just wasn't enough and his shoulder was becoming a big issue year in and out.
