Panthers release Lucas

We need to use that on D-line.

Not really, especially if Peppers signs a long term contract or stays.

That's too narrow minded. You have to consider or pick the best rated player among the needs you have.

So if a CB is much higher rated than the DE that is available you don't pass up on him.(same goes for any of our needs)

Peppers won't sign a deal, so we should get somebody early so we can train them up in the mean time. Peppers will also probably have another season like 07, or just hold out altogether. I was thinking a DT anyway. Maybe Ziggy Hood if he is still there. We can get a decent CB in the 3rd.

Panthers saved 2.3 million under the cap by releasing Lucas, as Darin Gantt pointed out - 24,000 in cap space wasn't enough to sign our draft picks.

Best of luck Ken, thanks for giving us your best both on and off the field.

Not a big savings compared to what his salary was going to be...

O.K. move, now who else do we release to free up some more cap space or do we roll with the squad that we have with maybe one or two FA pickups.

We'll have to make some more moves because it will take more than this to sign our draftees, (even though it won't take as much if we don't have a 1st rounder)...

on one hand.....

thanks for the years of service ken lucas. you've been steadily downhill since 2005, but you were never worse than average. by all accounts you were insufferable in the locker room, but now you have the chance to make yourself some money and pick a city with an appropriately accommodating gay night life.

on the other....

eat a dick. you're going to get less money now because you didn't want to play in detroit. no one is going to give you what you think you're worth because no one shares the opinion of your skills your inflated ego has left you with. i hope wherever you go the panthers get to play you and you end up on steve smith so he could burn you all day like he does in practice.

ok Fiz, chill out. Lucas may not be worth the money he was due this year but he was never a terrible corner. He gave up a few long plays this year but when the opposing QB has 4.5 minutes to thorw, who wouldn't? Lucas has been nothing but quiet and having a perfect attiute during his stay here. He honestly could not have handled the Steve Smith situation any better. He didn't speak up a bit and just forgave him. unless u expected him to get up smile and laughing after it.
