Anyone else notice how much time Godfrey spent in man-to-man coverage in the last 2 games? There were quite a few defensive formations with him, Considine, and Pugh on the field at once... with his cornerback background, I'm almost wondering if only carrying 3 or 4 corners (likely 4) and sticking with 5 safeties is a valid possibility. It would also seem that any players traded from Carolina would probably come from the LB or S corps. Didn't see much of Sherrod Martin the last couple of games - was he hurt?

Sutton would've been versatile too after Fiametta got cut playing both FB and RB. Dont see how Brockel is more versatile. He won't see time at TE that much just like Sutton wouldn't have seen much time at RB, but Sutton is better at what he does and at special teams.

Sutton isn't a FB. Just because he played one game there out of necessity, it doesn't make him a FB. I'd guarantee he took zero snaps at the FB position this preseason. Brockel is the back up FB and 4th TE. Sutton would have just been the 4th RB. It should have been obvious this was coming really, with how much time Brockel spent on the field this preseason.

just FYI - the next snap Ziemba takes at G for the panthers will be his first. I haven't seen him anywhere except tackle. I really doubt they are counting on him for interior line depth. He's a backup tackle.

have to agree that sutton would have been just as versatile & probably more productive for us, either this guy is going to get cut soon or the coaching staff just wanted someone bigger than sutton

been saying this for a while godfrey, martin, & pugh all can play some corner so we might see them together in some packages

There is a good chance we pick up three defensive starters from other teams cuts (DT1, DT2, CB2)

It's going to be a rough year on defense.

I predicted the cut, but only because I thought Fiametta would've been on it. Cutting them both in favor of Brockel just doesn't make sense to me.
