Cam's Amazing Stats... Not Kidding

Ask Rivera if he made the right decision. He had such a horrible night you have to base today's critique off a 20 yard run he made against one of the best defenses/defensive schemes/defensive coordinator in the NFL. Have at it ...

You should be a boxer with this kind of reach.

Please show me where I said he had a horrible night...

I'm talking about improvement. That's something he needs to improve upon. Read what's written, not what you want to be written.

You said he regressed. Negative connotations, correct?

And it's not as simple as what is written, although you did type that he regressed... It's also what's implied. And you're picking apart a 20 yard run. Seriously.

He regressed in that one aspect of his game.

He'd been good about throwing the ball and running as a last resort.

That play was not a good example of it.

I honestly don't know that if he had thrown it we would have gotten that many yards...Smith's presence blocking for him is what slowed the defenders coming right at him, if he had thrown it, Smitty would not have had that blocker. If he had thrown it, we would have barely eeked out a first down.

Because people exaggerate to build Cam's hype and use it as an excuse on why he made the wrong decision.

If he freaks out when 5 guys rush and it's picked up perfectly by the line and RB, he should not be on the field.

4-5 guys is a standard rush in the NFL, not an "all out blitz"

When a big play happens, the vast majority of fans do not care IF it is preceived as the wrong play. A very small minority will say wrong play with good results.

I do not believe he freaked out on that blitz. I think he saw a lane and took it. Now the next time this scenario comes up, I believe he may just toss it to Smitty. You have to go through an experience to learn from it.

I do realize this was not an all-out blitz, but it was a blitz. It was not that big of a deal to actually have to comment on it. It only throws more evidence that you enjoy baiting posters.

You can be better than this. Unless this is what you enjoy. Either way, GOOOOO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!

I was against Cam running the ball, but man he runs smart and is a big boy to try and tackle

The only real hit that I saw Cam take last year that I saw affect his play was in the BCSCG against Oregon... he took a helmet right in the back. He still played a good game, but you could tell it was affecting him.

He's as smart a (non-RB) runner I've ever seen in field awareness and avoiding "shots".

Don't blame him for being out in left field. He is outstanding in his field.

When he's got nothing he tries to deflects the point of the conversation to a minute point like whether a blitz is all out or just an ordinary blitz while not addressing the elephant in the room. Like why you would stand there in the midst of a blitz waiting for Smitty to clear and passing the ball to him while he is just coming open instead of running through a huge hole into the secondary where the nearest defender is 20 yards away from you and you know you have to get a first down. All the while knowing you have a great blocker in front of you. Instead you would pull up and throw a pass you hope gets there, which will be caught by your teammate. Why in the world would you not do what you do better than any other quarterback not named Vick.

He would want you to believe that Cam, being a great runner, and perhaps trusting his legs as much or more than his arms, was clearly wrong to run. In fact to do so even for the longest run in franchise history and a first down was a clear sign of regression and failure to progress. All under the guise of possible injury.

I just can't help but believe that he has decided to test his debating ability by taking a controversial and minority position and then seeing if he can win the debate with well crafted posts obfuscating the obvious with red herring points irrelevant to the argument at large. The point is to win the argument any way possible. Otherwise why would he actually argue that there is anything wrong with running 19 yards for a first down on a critical third down. It surely can't be based on nornally accepted traditional football wisdom and knowledge. Sure you don't want to do it every series, but to even intimate that it is not a desirable thing makes no sense. Only someone purposely looking to bait someone into an argument would possible keep arguing that position.

Wait until he figures out that he can slide and run out of bounds, he will easily run for 1000 yards this year without even trying to do it just scrambling on broken plays.

One thing Cam wasn't good at all year last year was sliding. I just think that at his size he's not very good at it.

He just kind of... collapses.

But it works.

Exactly. Using a minute point of debate to define the argument while ignoring the elephant in the room as if it isn't there. Too bad for him that people like you see through it with little problem.

While the announcers made a big deal out of Smith's block, I don't know how big a difference it actually made, because it looked like Cam got taken down by two other guys at the same time Smith made his block. At the same time, if he had thrown the ball (and let's assume a completion), Smith was several yards ahead of him and was already running. Smith is faster and more evasive than Cam, even if he isn't as much of a wrecking ball, and who knows what would have happened....

still, I'm glad he kept that drive alive.

That's what a pocket in the NFL looks like. Looks pretty damn good to me...

Because photo stills are always perfectly accurate in depicting the dynamics of an NFL play.

*snap* LOOK THERE'S A POCKET!

You are one piece of work. You will hate him (and deny it) with your every breath. Its really a shame you're not going to enjoy watching him develop.
