Our Defense is Awful..

Seriously, this has nothing to do with scheme, our DL flat out sucks, they get flattened every play. It's not complicated.

I'm not sure why I am surprised that the defense has been lackluster. I don't buy the "vanilla" argument anymore. The other team wasn't trying to show their entire playbook either. The fact is, our CBs are going to get burned a lot this year. I think it is more impotant to fill the holes on the DL. Stopping the pass begins with stopping the run. And we can't get that done up front. Poor tackling has been the culprit in some cases. Other times it has been simply getting pushed around.

I was surprised at all the DT cuts. For our weakest position on DL, Rivera is being very selective. I guess I can support cutting dead weight, but now we may need to pick up 2 or more servicable DTs. As nice as it might be to add some better players at the position, coming in and starting in week 1 is going to be a stretch for any FA we bring in at this point.

THere is no reason to rush Beason back unless we can get a DT rotation that swallows up blockers. Might as well let Dan Conner stay out there and take the beating.

I guess we are just going to have to accept the fact that Munnerlyn is the starter. I doubt they will bring in anyone in FA at this point who they will expect to start.

All signs seem to point to us giving up some points this season. Here's hoping that our offense can convert some third downs and stay on the field and give these guys a chance to go after the QB.

We will live and die by the turnover margin in most games. It's the only way this defense can get off the field.

Greg Hardy showed a bit of push from the outside. That was the only improvement I saw from the line. Rookie DTs look like projects at best. We better get lucky on the waiver wire or we start the season without any legit DTs. And that's on the GM.
