Why The Panthers Are Quiet During FA

Proceeding as if the "you" bolded is referring to me since you posted this right after mine...

I don't think anyone's panties are wadded by pointing out flaws with the team. Certainly, it is naive at best to think OMGZ!!!!1 THE TEAM WAS 12-4 LAST YEAR THEY WILL FERSHUREBETHEBESTESTNEXTYEAR! Last year has absolutely ZERO to do with this year record wise. What gets annoying is the constant, unrelenting and repetitive multi-thread kvetching that have no practicality behind the thoughts. I don't care deeply or get all het up or whatever because frankly it is not my board and I am free not to read or post. and I also think everyone is entitled to write their opinions (even if they are WAYYYY off base...:P;))It's just that madden mentality I think is short sighted (thus my comment about "big picture" vs sunshine).

Na the only sentence in there was to kurb, the rest was just general blabbering.

I don't play madden though, so I wouldn't know what the madden mentality is.

Do tell me sweet cakes who would make an impact here in FA?

I will never say FOX is the best in the league, but he is pretty damn good.

Hurney, gets way too much blame and never enough credit.

But please, tell me, who do you want signed ?

I completely agree about Hurney getting too much blame and not enough credit.

But Fox is barely adequate at best. The last 2 reg season games and the Cards debacle sealed his and Jakes fate as people that have to leave before we will be truly successful.

His whole conservative play not to lose bullshit has long since played out. It is what it is. A run first offense is one thing but the bullshit gameplans he was putting out there were awful

Davidson is calling his own plays and doing his own thing. If Meeks does the job Fox will let him do his thing just like Trgo did until we started to fall off the last 2 years.

Fox is the boss but anyone who runs a company, which the Panthers surely are, knows you can't do it yourself. You need people who report to you to do the job and make their own decisions. Your job is to manage them and keep things going in the right direction.

Problem is you get too much blame when things don't go well, and too much credit when they do.

To the portion of you that seem to think it is no big deal that we haven't done anything in free agency, ask yourself if we are a better team now than at the end of the year? And, by all means, explain why we are better.

I don't know that we're better right now, although having Gross signed long term is a good thing.

But it's also worth remembering that the offseason is far from over.

You can't put a judgment on that until the off season has been played, then it's just on paper. You really have to wait till week 4 or 5 to see if the team has improved over the previous year on the field. On paper you have to wait till the end of the off season at least.

At least we aren't the Redskins... They always spend a ton of money in FA, no way our cap situation is worse than theirs.

Oh wait, it is?

Well damn.

this year they've put there eggs in the basket that 2010 is uncapped. Giving ludicrous signing bonuses in the 2010 off season. Hall is getting a 15 million dollar bonuses in the off season of 2010. Haynesworth is making counting his bonuses over 29 million that season. Haynesworth got that massive contract and I believe he only counts for like 6 million this season in salary.
