Why The Panthers Are Quiet During FA

Oh and you DON'T have to use up all your cap space to be a competitive team either. I think you need to save a bit of room for injury replacements as well.

You are right, but if we don't use up most of our cap space and we suck next year, then it will be horrible. Even if it doesn't put Hurney on the hot seat, we, as Panther fans, will have to deal with being a mockery all season by the press and other fans.

IF WE HAD THE SPACE, i would like to see any OG or OT signed.. no big names, just a cheap O-lineman for depth.. maybe Orlando Pace for a 1-2 year deal.. he cant possibly think of starting at his age, right?

or some depth at DT, DE or CB:

DT Dewayne Robertosn, DT Anthony Weaver

DE Michael Montgomery, DE Kalimba Edwards

CB Joselio Hanson, CB Chris Johnson

just to name a few..

I was surprised when I looked how many DL players in the 300lb. range with 4 to 6 years experience there are out there that are still on the market. Of course, they're mainly depth but could be had inexpensively...

Buying stuff to just say you bought it is incredibly idiotic, aka a politician.

I see no relevance in your comment what so ever. I'm not saying we should spend the 17 million dollars that we get IF we trade Peppers on the freaking water boy. You're telling me that if we spent 17 million dollars that we would free up can't be used for at least depth is incredibly idiotic.

And there is no way any of you can convince me that if we have room left over and we have a losing record next year, that every single one of you guys would be calling for Hurney's head.

Do tell me sweet cakes who would make an impact here in FA?

I will never say FOX is the best in the league, but he is pretty damn good.

Hurney, gets way too much blame and never enough credit.

But please, tell me, who do you want signed ?

Oh no one of course! We have Cutler and Boldin on the trading block. We *had* a slew of offensive linemen we could have signed for depth, Jovan Haye/Haynesworth/Rocky Bernard/Chris Canty all available for our piss-poor defensive line, McFadden/Dawkins for the secondary.

Obviously though, these are all busted has-beens that couldn't even make our vaunted roster.

I mean, sure we just got smoked by the Cards at home in the playoffs, we have one of the oldest and most inaccurate starting quarterbacks in the league, a guy that's going to be paid $17 million that doesn't want to be here, no depth on the offensive line, a piss poor defense (minus the linebackers), a new crop of assistant coaches everywhere, and a schedule where the worst team we're playing is 7-9. What's to worry about honestly? They're making the right choice to do nothing in the offseason obviously.

Goody Gum Drops.

I was hoping you would do this.

Haye is Overrated

Haynesworth isn't worth the money.

Rockey Bernard would have been an option in a rotational role, so +1 for you

Chris Canty wanted WAY too much for a guy changing postions.

We have good CB's already, CB's which I believe will do better when they are not 10yards off the ball.

Dawkins is awsome, but he would have replaced Chris Harris, not Godfry, I don't think you want to do that, or spend on an aging player do you?

Haye is Overrated, but better than a scrub.

Haynesworth isn't worth the money at all, but better than any of our DTs.

Rockey Bernard would have been an option in a rotational role, so +1 for you.

Chris Canty wanted WAY too much for a guy changing postions, but would have made us better.

We have good CB's already, CB's which I believe will do better when they are not 10yards off the ball...though I have no proof of this since nobody knows what Meeks and Fox will do.

Dawkins is awsome, but he would have replaced Chris Harris, not Godfrey, I don't think you want to do that, or spend on an aging player do you? But again, I have no proof of that, seeing as how players switch positions all the time and Harris more than likely would've switched in order to bring him in, thus giving Godfrey a shot at starting CB

Fixed.

CAN WE END THESE FA THREADS PLEASE??? I know this one had a POINT but still. We have no money. And will have no money. If anything Lucas goes during the draft for a 5th Rounder to give us some money for our draft picks. Even that won't do the trick. Someone else will need to be restructured.

This all comes down to Hurney getting less than he wants for Pep during the draft, then finally giving us the option to bring in some bench warmers. It's going to happen this way, IMHO.

I think the point is that we don't like being in bad shape period. As long as we are in any kind of shape that isn't good/great, the Fans are going to worry.

We have put our selves into a situation where 1-2 injuries are going to cost us the playoffs unless we free up some cap space. I'm sure if it was as easy as "a flick of the pen" then it would have been done by now.
