Bo Jackson on Cam Newton

You never, EVER doubt Bo Jackson. It is just one of those natural laws I thought everone learned a long time ago.

If Bo says Cam will be one of the "baddest" men in the NFL by mid-season, mark it down because it is a damn fact.

Can't believe I missed this thread (and the Bo interview) before. And I have been on this board almost nightly for months..

Anyway, Cam needs to run more. Love the pass first mentality, but when he sees some open field, I wish he would take off and not think twice.

That'll work great until a LB blind sides him & shreds his knee. Defenses already know Cam can & will run. He could go 6-8 games without a single rush & defenses would still account for his legs. Knowing he can run is as big a problem for opposing coaches as him actually running.

One thing I noticed in 14 games with Auburn last year and in 2 game so far (not counting pre-season) with Carolina this year is that Cam has scary-good field awareness.

All those great athletes in the SEC and I saw him get hit a good bit (which is OK... he's a big feller, he can take a hit), but I rarely saw him take "a shot". Only time I saw him get hurt was when he took a helmet to the back in the BCSCG and when he twisted his ankle this weekend and neither time did it stop him. (Oh, I forgot when Marcel Dareus intentionally stepped on his leg at the end of the AU/Bama game last year but that didn't stop him either.)

He seems to have eyes in front, in the back, and on the sides of his head. He has the situational awareness as to when to cut, speed up, slow down, and get down.

Yeah, he's gonna take "a shot" one day... all QB's do. But I'm willing to bet it won't be when he's running the ball. Will more likely be in the pocket and him sticking in the pocket til the bitter end.

I would say Newton is a little slower... but less elusive?

Yeah. I don't see any other QB in this league juking two Green Bay Defenders for 8 yards on a 3rd down besides maybe Vick.

That was way more SICK in slo mo than in real time. And that play was bad ass! Whoever made that video did a great job!
