Panther/Steelers game time thread

Never said that and don't put words into my mouth. what i am saying, however is that a QB knows down and distance situations BETTER than his WRs. Therefore if he were to ever BECOME a WR then he should know where he needs to be and at which position he needs to manuver to get there. The rest is learning route running, blocking and more of the subtlties of being a WR.

Or maybe he ran the route the way it's drawn up and didn't want to freelance given his inexperience at WR. Result would have been same/similar with Smith or any other WR.

Thank God the big boys are back soon. I like Ruck and his insight as a former player, otherwise I'd just mute the game.

I'd listen to in on the radio if it wasn't for my deep seeded hatred for Mick Mixon.

robinson and szokewtheverhisnameis make up for mixon. that, or ive just gotten used to him. robinson is always good for a laugh or two at least.

You can read into some of it...

He made some good throws and some bad ones. His ball placement alternated between totally awful and very good. He was clearly not on the same page with his receivers on many of those plays.

On the other hand, Anderson had the offense clicking non stop. It looked like it was 2007 and he was chucking up balls to Braylon Edwards and Winslow. From what I could see of his ball placement his throws were on the money in stride most of the time, which is big. He very rarely seemed to misfire. Overall I was impressed and I wish we'd had a chance to see a bit more out of him earlier. Maybe he is just a system guy.

Jimmy plays with third stringers.......Huddle still trashes him

I am far from a Jimmy fan, but you can't read into his performance either way tonight

People trash him when he plays like crap with starters, when he plays like crap with backups and when he plays like crap with 3rd stringers. People must just be jerks.

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
