I get what you're saying, but speaking of melodrama and the histrionics of this forum, don't you think that applies more to saying a guy starting his 2nd year after a BS 1st year who never played WR and is showing flashes of true potential would need cut?

No, I don't think that's a case of histrionics at all, or melodramatic, and to be honest, I don't think that anyone who knows me would say that I am given to melodrama or histrionics. In fact, I am pretty much a sane-minded member of this forum. Especially in light of the fact that our FO has done a pretty much piss poor job at picking up WRs for the last few years---whether by draft, trade or FA---I don't think it's a stretch to say that we could have done better than AE. We could have acquired a WR like Eric Decker, Jordan Shipley, or Antonio Brown to name a few. Of course hindsight is always 20:20, and I am not paid to be a scout (they are). But, like John Fox always says, "It is what it is." The FO wants to give him the utmost chance before admitting they made a mistake, so there is no way they are going to cut him (notwithstanding these phantom "flashes of potential" that, even if true, are greatly overstated.

AE isn't going anywhere, write it in stone. He's one of the very few who was constantly open, he just needs to keep working on his hands.

how does ANY of that pertain to you thinking AE needs cut? he is on the roster, regardless of how he ended up there, it would be a pretty horrible idea to cut him based on what I'm seeing in this preseason and considering where he could be in 2-3 years..

and with that said: I'm not saying you aren't a level-headed person, I'm saying that anyone thinking AE needing cut at this point in time is not speaking rationally...

for it to be rational, you would need to give me several reasons as to what you are seeing on the field would prevent him from ever becoming a solid WR and why the flashes I'm seeing now are worthless to keep around..

which of course there aren't many, if any.. there is no reason to cut the guy now. none, nada, zip..

so since I've deducted that there are zero reasons to cut him, it would only be melodramatic to just blurt out CUT AE! ;)

Oh, I understand that it's slim pickings out there right now. I'm just saying that, IMO, anyone who thinks EB is somehow going to "grow into the position" and eventually become a productive player is sorely mistaken. This was such a remarkably bad draft pick. I don't understand why our scouting department and front office seem to avoid culpability for horrendous picks.
