Pat Yasinskas "unleash Newton"

There’s one way to avoid that. Let him run...

...and let him get jacked up a couple of times :(

Sorry. Can't get behind this idea. For one, because it doesn't really help his development as a passer (and could hurt it) but the risk that Yasinskas downplays is the bigger deal.

I watched Newton get up slowly several times all throughout the BCS game, and those hits just came from college players. "Turning him loose" against the Ray Lewises and Troy Polamalus of this world doesn't exactly thrill me.

Don't want him to be afraid to run if the situation calls for it, mind you, but don't want him to be anxious to do it either.

There is literally no downside at all to letting him sit a bit while this team hopefully gets a little of itself together.

this is true if you can stay away from the huddle a while to avoid the Cam fans (not necessarily Panther fans mind you) screaming bloody murder over him not getting the chance to Superman our city to the Superbowl.

Let him run. Use designed running plays. Roll him out. Basically let Cam Newton be Cam Newton until Cam Newton becomes an different version of Cam Newton in which case we can use the new Cam Newton as a pocket passer.

He can develop as a passer and have some designed run plays created for him. It isn't an either or proposition.

People afraid that Newton is going to get hurt, just need to get over the fear. Rivera has already said at one point this off season that Carolina would be adding dedicated Run plays for Newton. Now there's read options as well, plus the fact that he'll probably scramble a bit. I wouldn't be surprised to see Newton run the ball 8-10 times a game on average this season.

I'm looking forward to Newton lowering his non throwing shoulder and running over DB's and LB's this season.

Ahh, another one with the flawed mentality.
