The Panthers are talking to Alex Brown about signing him

Brown would be a good pickup and he still has some left in the tank...

Those calling this guy a has-been need to actually look into the player before showing off their ignorance.

2011 - 2 sacks, 5 hits and 26 pressures with 28 defensive stops

2010 - 7 sacks, 12 hits and 20 pressures with 30 defensive stops

2009 - 6 sacks, 10 hits and 25 pressures with 36 defensive stops

Him and CJ opposite each other are a VERY solid tandem, with both excelling against the run game, which might be pretty darn important considering our issues at DT.

For the record Everette Brown has achieved this:

2010-11 - 7 sacks, 9 hits and 29 pressures with 31 defensive pressures

for all his spinning around like a helicopter, everette isn't the liability that any make him out to be. he isn't quite the superstar we were hoping for in giving up a first round pick, but still he's effective. when i was looking at how effective the stats showed against the run, i was very surprised. it wasn't bad at all.

that said, i wouldn't mind alex brown being brought in and i like the idea of hardy starting. CJ and hardy starting with alex, everette, and norwood in rotation would make for a solid DE corps, imo. bring in another solid vet DT and we could end up with a pretty respectable Dline.

If he doesn't pick us I will be sad...:(
i honestly wouldn't blame him if he didn't choose us, though.

to go from one of the best teams in the league to one of the worst would be hard and it would take one heck of a salesman to get him here (unless noone really wants him which is another issue entirely).

if he does still have a lot in the tank, rivera is going to be the draw for him.

Because Pep is a liar. 1st he said he wanted to go to a 3-4 defense. End up going to a team running the same system we were. He admitted that after his 2 sack season they offer to make him the highest paid Def. player in the league. Then he made up the stupidest reason why he turned that down. He didn't feel he earned it. Seriously???

I don't know if Peppers was a liar or if he just didn't know what he wanted besides wanting out of Carolina.

It's also possible that what he wanted evolved over time and at the end of the day what he really wanted was a change of scenery. I also remember that at the end of his last season here, he said he would be perfectly happy to come back and he no longer "wanted out". At that point, I think the FO had already decided to move on as part of the general youth movement.

I remember the story about Mr. Richardson flying Peppers into town and taking him out to lunch where he felt like they had agreed man-to-man on the basic terms of his next contract and the Big Cat felt like Peppers then went back on his word. Knowing what I know about the Big Cat, if you agree to something with him and shake his hand on it and then go back on that - he's done with you.

Taking it as a whole, it's easy for me to believe that the Panthers never called. I do remember Hurney was asked about Peppers status at the time and he said the offer they made in 2007 was still on the table and it was his to take or leave... and he knew full well that Peppers would not take an offer made in 2007, it was a matter of principal.

Again, I don't know what Peppers motivation would have been to say that he never heard from them? Maybe he was trying to save face, but if I was trying to safe face and knew I was as good as gone anyways (which he did) I would say that it didn't matter if they called because I wanted out and I wasn't going to accept any offer they made anyways - so they can kiss my ass.

I honestly believe Peppers wanted to come back and was never invited, but we'll probably never know the truth.

Sometimes playing in the right system with a starting gig has its advantages. Well that at least is the glass half full look of it.

There is more to a DE than sacks. That could be stopping the run and its hard to stop that when you are spinning around.

really i didnt know that.go ask tyler brayton is the DE position more than sacks.yes you have to stop the run, but it is a pass happy league. your DE main job is getting to the qb.
