The Panthers are talking to Alex Brown about signing him

Still need some vet leadership on that DLine. Brown would be a solid guy in the DE rotation. Not the most pressing need (see DT and CB), but adding him over E Brown would definitely upgrade the line.

in what way besides being older? dude hasnt been good in years, with decent DT play our ends will be better. still say Fua starts.

We tried to re-sign Peppers....it was out of our control.

Harris....I am torn on this. I think he is good against the run and is a great guy. But Martin/Godfrey are an upgrade in the pass defense.

we did years ago, but not before he left. i remember him saying we didnt even get in contact with him, and that hurney said he would get back to him. would be nice to have cj and pep as bookends.

Which has been refuted by the panthers as a total lie.

The Panthers offered him as much money as the Bears did.

Not to get off topic, but that's a he said/she said situation and we may never know the truth, but what reason would Peppers have to lie? Wouldn't it be more satisfying to his ego to say that the Panthers called and made him an offer and he turned it down?

I honestly believe the Panthers never called because they were ready to move on.

Again, we're talking about a guy we can work into the rotation at DE that is a vet and understands the system we're trying to run.

Half the folks on this board wanted to keep Brayton around with his zero sack tally because he was a vet and was good against the run... but we don't want Alex Brown who had 2x as many sacks as Brayton and is a vet who is stout against the run and understands Rivera's system?

Because Pep is a liar. 1st he said he wanted to go to a 3-4 defense. End up going to a team running the same system we were. He admitted that after his 2 sack season they offer to make him the highest paid Def. player in the league. Then he made up the stupidest reason why he turned that down. He didn't feel he earned it. Seriously???

Very well could be. We likley will never know the whole truth.

I just remember them saying that they offered him as much as Chicago did. I really think that Pep just wanted a change of scenery.
