Newton: "It's About Trusting The System"

How many times do I have to say that ......just unbiased enough to understand that his footwork needs A LOT of work and he is not ready.

And how many times do you have to be told he is starting ready or not and he will get the work in by playing not sitting. So why keep bitching about something that is going to happen anyway.

Newsflash!!!! We are a young team with lots of rookies and new players and guys learning a new system. Most are not ready but time is growing nigh. We will be playing in 2 weeks in the regular season, ready or not. Why not lower your expectations and enjoy the ride.

I am no more bitching than you are.

I am stating my opinion just the same as you. I respect your opinion and understand it....I just don't agree with it.

If you don't like it....don't fuging read it.

I agree with what you are saying.

But, if you can't complete the pass.....you are not an effective QB on the field.

I am very, very happy he is making the right decisions. That is usually the part that bad QB's struggle with. Gives me a ton of hope in Cam.

But, that does not change the fact that he needs time and work to improve the mechanics and ability to actually complete the pass. I am not writing him off....just am willing to accept that he still needs a lot of work and time.

Some people believe in throwing a young QB out there and see if he can sink or swim. Some believe in letting him develop before you throw him out there. Which is right? You never know. There are success stories and massive failures going either direction.

All you can do is make a decision and pray like hell that you made the correct one.

Bottom line in deciding which way to go is deciding whether your guy is a David Carr (fragile personality), Vince Young ( head case) or mentally tough. Based on what Cam has been through over the last few years and how hard he works, obviouslt the staff feels he will be fine srating and struggling. Since they work closely with him every day, I will trust they know what they are talking about.

Very true Kurb. And why hasn't the coaches seen it?

Same reason people run out of gas in their car.

Sometimes you just have to go with what you have in the tank.

Dont forget we have drafted RGs several times in the past few drafts.

Who knows what the kid from this draft could have been.

Duke just refused to take the job.

Never said that the whole team has not played crappy....they have.

There are guys on the squad that will start (Bernardeau, Fua, McClain, etc..) that I think have a ton of potential but are not ready.....just the same as I feel about Cam.

How many times do I have to say that I am not bashing Cam. He is actually performing better at this stage than I even thought he would. He has tons of potential, and I believe will end up being very good. That does not change the fact that he is a major work in progress....which is not a bad thing. I am not writing the guy off by any stretch of the imagination....just unbiased enough to understand that his footwork needs A LOT of work and he is not ready.

I agree that Cam shouldn't be put out there the first day but the question is, who should? And when will it be acceptable in ur eyes for Cam to be ready?

My biggest fear from day one wasn't so much will Cam ready, but will the team step up their game and fix the problems that plagued them last year. U're now playing with two different QBs with two distinctive style of play but ur still having the same problem and now ur back to focusing all of ur attention on the new QB and worrying about what he's not doing perfect enough.

In reality, Cam is the least of the Panther's issues.

I hope they know what they are talking about as well. I would love nothing more than Cam Newton to blow it up and have a Matt Ryan type of rookie season.

I am a DIE HARD Panthers fan and want nothing more than a successful team.

I have no doubt that he will improve as he gets games under his belt. I just have a hard time riding the learning curve wave....I am selfish that way.

this is a QB league. Poor QB play is always the most important issue on offense.

LoL at this "running quarterback" notion will change the NFL. I've heard that BS since the mid 80's.

John Elway - When he became a pocket passer and let the runningbacks do the running he became a Superbowl champion.

Steve Young - Sat behind Cool Joe and learned the system.

Randell Cunningham - Was injuried as a runner, changed his game and had a couple good season in Minnesota as a pocket passer.

Mike Vick - Looked like a real quarterback last season thanks to Andy Reid.

Cam Newton better learn how to pass or its a short life and a wasted pick.

No need to get all pissy and immature here. I just actually used your exact words in your post and repeated them back to you. Why does it piss you off when all I did was use the same language you did??

Besides saying if you don't like it, don't read it, is really stupid. How would I know if I didn't like it until after I read it????
