Yeah if my son gets a car, it'll be my Jeep and I'll get something newer.

My husband went insane one day and gave our son his new truck. My hubs is the one driving the old crappy car now.

Hell, Ty's truck is nicer and newer than my camry. He's styling in an F150 4 door 4x4. He's also now fishing and hunting. His job pays for the gas, and that's about it.

exactly, his car is newer than mine as well, but he helps me out so much around the house..........he has really stepped up, since the separation its amazing when you step back and look at what a great kid you have raised and wonder how in the world you ever made it this far.......

sorry but you are asking for trouble giving a 16 year old boy a V8 sports car. any sports car for that matter. trouble meaning higher insurance rates due to not only his age but also the almost certain tickets for speeding and reckless driving and god forbid accidents. forget bubble wrap. get him a SNELL certified helmet.

I'm speaking from personal experience here too. I totaled a CRX-si going 120 on the way to high school one year. After that was many tickets in an RS camaro, and on my crotch rockets.

Speed is a great thrill and at some point every man that has it at his disposal is going to go a little too far.

Yes I realize that a sports car is not the ideal car, and it was clearly not my first choice but with his dad footing the majority of the bill I did not have much room to push on this decision, I also have a blazer which he has agreed to drive the majority of the time and keep the miles off his mustang, I am hoping between that and him getting his license late, (he is almost 18) and him paying his own insurance and knowing if he gets a ticket the tag is going to be yanked and the car parked indefinitely, he will spare us both some pain and keep his head on his shoulders until he gets more driving experience.:frown2:
