This just might be another down year.

11-5 assuming our OLine stays healthy.

I would love that but we are gonna have to be lucky to make it to that number with our thin lines. Really its too bad we dont run a 3-4 cause we have a poo load of LBs but just a few DLs but that for another discussion.

Ok, if all of you prognosticators are so damn smart, how about telling me what you think the rest of the NFC South will do.

We're in the drivers seat until someone TAKES it from us, and none of the other teams has the personnel to do it.

I think ATL has a good shot. Matt Ryan, Roddy white, and dont forget Turner with a young good O-line. On D they have a young Players with the man of glass himself Jon Abraham. They are also well coached.

Tampa bay we might not be all that great this year but who knows its the south and ATL was gonna be horrible last year and we saw what happened.

NO is just going down fast and IMO this might be Shaun Payton's last year but hey they have Dan Morgan!!!

Has it occurred to anyone (besides Meat, maybe) that for the first time in memory the running game is not a question mark heading into the season? We're going to be strong on the ground, and we still have Smitty to keep the defenses from stacking the box. That goes a long way towards keeping some consistency.

On defense we're solid everywhere but on the line. Even there we're good against the run, we just can't generate a pass rush with our front four. We may lose Peppers, but the defense has performed well without him on the field before, and if he's gone the rest of the D will just have to step up. There have been plenty of cases where defenses have performed well after losing a star. You might lose one, but you still have the other ten.

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned--we're young. That's right, most of our team is still on the rise and entering the prime of their careers.

If this year's squad played the 2009 schedule, there would be only three or four games that I would be genuinely worried about. You guys need to relax.

Well said.

We still have a good team. Not much to be down about in my view point. Guess that means I won't fit in with all the doom and gloom people.

Name one team that has even half a line without a history of injuries.

Losing all our back up OLs is what scares me. I mean injuries happen threw a year and we are gonna need some good players. We just need one or two more guys and we dont have them.

RE: another down year.

Don't you feel like that statement is just a bit premature?

In this league one key injury to a division rival, is just enough to send a team on the bubble to the playoffs. Remember Delhomme in 2007?

In 2008, few predicted wild-card Arizona was going to make it to the Superbowl, until they beat us........

Some teams start hot, then fizzle out. Other teams start dry, and get nasty towards the end. There are far too many unknowns to make a prediction.

No because I never said that it was the end of the world. I was just pointing out some things. Hell I even admitted I was being pessimistic. You could have atleast read the post preview before speaking. Its ok though reading is becoming archaic anyway. :D

I read your whole post, Jambi. BTW, you're very bad at reading minds. If you don't like responses then maybe you should think your whole thread out before you post. ;)

I see no reason to be pessimistic right now...

We play in a tough division, but I think we matchup with each team in our division very well. Each of our divisional foes also have to play a very tough schedule, so i'm not worried about that.

The only thing that will keep us out of contention for a division title will be injuries to the offensive line and defensive line, and/or poor QB play.

When I made basically that same post a couple of weeks ago, I was reminded that while we have to play the #1 team in those other divisions, the #2, #3 and #4 have to match up to those spots. So yes, we have a rough schedule, but it's not like those #1's were great over the others in their divisions and we only play them once. We have to clean house in our own division and we'll be fine. Of course, the schedules haven't been announced yet, so I'm not gonna worry about it...

Is the schedule on Panthers.com not correct?
