I wonder what the mindset of the FO and coaches are?

This has to be a very disappointing start to the season given the injuries and lack of production from key players.I wonder how it will change the players we will chose in FA and the stadegy going forward. We seem deep at lb and rbs but are lacking at Ol.DL,veteran qb and cb.

Adding more medicore players to me is a waste of time and money and part of the problem we find ourselves in.We must upgrade positions at DT,OG,OT and cb.That being said we are no longer rolling in money. We have already traded our 3rd round pick and cant see giving up a pick being we will be picking high next year. To me we need players that can step in when someone is injured and there are very few positions where we have the depth to do that.

Is it time to consider trading some players where we are deep to pick up players where we are thin?

Whre did that comment come from?

I don't know, but I'll make a serious post now.

Coaching staff and Hurney are probably pretty irked at the injuries that have hit the team, especially since they were at positions we were already thin at.

I think the FO will claim players off the waiver wire that can step in for this season. We weren't going to be very competitive this season anyway, so I don't think Hurney or Rivera will be pushing for trades or signing players unless it's just a damn good deal.

I think you left out a big part of that PRE-season if records n team play is any indication of how a team is going to be through out the year then well the Falcons, Colts and numerous of other teams are gunna suck too.

Who would you even consider of trading away?

You don't go out and trade for a bunch of players which decimates your depth at positions of strength unless you believe the guys you are trading for will be the key to making a playoff run. Otherwise you draft guys and develop them and take your lumps along the way.

We have a bunch of holes this year that trading for one or two big name FAs won't fix. Rivera and Hurney are taking the approach of filling in with some reasonably priced veterans or other teams throw aways while building through the draft.

The mindset is build for the future and don't sacrifice everything you built for a quick fix.

Personally I would like a marriage of the vets now and build through the draft approaches. Build through the draft at most positions and supplement them with some proven skill folks at key positions.

You coach up the current players on the roster so their talents are maximized and on game days you put them in a position to succeed. You do the best you can this year, adding players who would be an upgrade at weaker positions if they become available as they are released from other teams.

Then your scouts work their asses off all year long and come draft day you're prepared and kill with every pick. You do this for two years then win it all.

Hopefully that's what the FO is thinking.

We have alot of holes at key positions unless you believe Otah will come back and stay healthy. We traded our third round pick so we have our 1st and second for high impact players but that is next year.

To me Hurney seems to bring in alot of medicore players to fill holes at most positions with the exception of Olson and expects differant results versus Belicheck who is constantly trying to upgrade his roster even if there is a risk in doing so. I am pleased with the coaching change but disappointed in Hurney upgrading positions and adding quality depth instead of more bodies to fill holes. Our team seems lopsided if that makes sense. We have alot of rbs.lbs and TEs and not one competant OG or DT.What value was signing D Anderson if he is so bad that Clausen is the second QB?

Would that he the same Belicheck whose team has not won a playoff game since 2007 and has been highly criticized for decimating the defense and trading guys like for picks and not replacing them.

So you don't think Wharton is a competent guard?? And what about drafting 2 third round DTs this year. Do you really expect they are going to just dominate out of the blocks.

We are a rebuilding team and that means we have to bring along young guys and make them better with good coaching and game experience. In the meantime we bring in some vets who are reasonable and see what happens. No matter who we brought in at DT or OG, it isn't going to get us to the playoffs. This is going to take time, everyone unwilling to wait needs to root for a different team for a year or two until we become a contender.
