Panthers beating the bushes

So...if they're window shopping....does that imply somebody's talking to our franchise player's agent?

Hmmmm...wonder....

I don't care what anyone says..Peppers is as good as gone. We will probably have to come down on our price to get the deal done but we will get good compensation for him. We will have a first round pick and will probably spend it on the DL (Johnson or Kruger actually could be possibilities as well as Barwin in the second round).

I think the Panthers have every intention of keeping Peppers unless he threatens to hold out or his agent brings them an offer sheet that involves two 1st round picks as compensation, which is what Hurney said the price would be (knowing full well that nobody would be willing to offer that).

I'd be very concerned about taking Johnson with a 1st round pick, I think there are too many question marks about him. If we're high enough, I'd like to see us take Raji.

Why Raji tho? Is he really going to be better than Lewis or Kemo? At best Raji is going to add depth next year. Personally I think he is really overrated because of a weak class. You could get a talent just as productive with Evander Hood in the second round.

On the Peppers front...I know that the front office is saying "we want to keep him" but in the back of their mind they are thinking...."Do we really want to risk paying 17 mil to a guy that admittedly tanked the 2007 season?"

Hopefully Fox saw what Johnson was all about and is going to tell Hurney to pass on draft day. I really don't like Johnson at all.

Kruger and Smith are both talented and I think either would be good pickups in the late first or 2nd round. We have had a lot of success with guys from Utah so I would be comfortable with them being picked.

Luigs seems like a very solid C but unless Fox/Hurney are having questions about Kalil I don't see him being a great pickup. From what I have heard/seen Luigs is a true center and wouldn't be great at backing up guard positions. Having a backup center that can only play center isn't the Panther's style so I don't think that pick would happen although I wouldn't be against it.

Really? That's the first I've heard of that. Sure I've heard a lot of Panther fans say that and discuss it to death and even the local sportswriters contemplate reasons for his lack of sacks, but I've never heard of Peppers or the coaches admitting that he tanked it...
