Mac is not that good nor will he ever be. One of my biggest peeves with this organization is that they give a longer leash to our drafted players than others, especially late round picks. If Mac was a FA undrafted rookie his arse would have already been cut, yet we drafted him and he's still here. A 7th round pick is essentially a FA anyway, move on and get more talent in here.

:iagree: Same goes for Duke Robinson. The front office is probably hesitant to cut drafted players to avoid any cap hits. Just speculation on my part, but I'm totally with you on this. Bernardeau was decent @ LG filling in for Wharton, but he's been totally useless @ the C or RG position. He got totally abused against the Bengals. It's time to end this experiment and find a permanent solution there.

With Robinson is gone there is no way we can go into the season with hoping for some combo of Mac/Williams/Bell to step in at RG. I think we're going to open the season with someone not currently on the roster as the starter at RG.

^^^^ This. Oddly enough, we probably won't know who this person is until Saturday night or even Sunday.

Wasnt Leonard Davis the LG with the Cowboys?

Played at RG for the Cowboys according to this article (I know, PFT sux zomg):

Former Cardinals and Cowboys offensive lineman Leonard Davis, the second overall pick in the 2001 draft, could be the latest addition to a Lions team that is trying its best to become a contender in the NFC.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Davis is visiting the Lions tonight and tomorrow.

Davis, 32, started every game in Dallas for the last four seasons, and he made it to the Pro Bowl from 2007 through 2009. Currently weighing in at 350 pounds, we’re told that Davis is open to the possibility of signing a one-year deal.

Primarily a right guard in Dallas, Davis has played both tackle positions and left guard during his career.

Bring on Davis, he's far better than Bernadeau.

I'm uber disappoint in Robinson, I was a big advocate of him in the draft.

well, I guess we know now why he was such a "steal" in the draft.

I'm with you though, very disappointed when guys have been given the physical stuff needed at this level put don't have the drive.
