The funny thing about it is that he was expecting the panthers to come and plead him to come back. Then when nothing happened, he signed with the Cards. He's 3rd in their depth chart, behind Peterson. He can't even beat out a rookie.

As for the "we let him walk and got no value for him"

That's the nfl. No team in the league goes around trading away their players just cause they are coming to the end of their contract. I don't know what world you live in, but it's not reality.

For all the talk of needing to get something for a player that is a FA, can anyone name this happening more than once, maybe twice in recent NFL history? The Chiefs did it with Jarred Allen. I cant think of any other examples. Somebody made the argument for doing that with Peppers and now it gets thrown around as a canned response every time a FA is coming up.

You can be argumentative, that's fine, I was simply pointing out that in my opinion, our track record of second round draft picks over the last seven or eight years have not panned out. I know it's a crap shoot in some cases on how the guy will fit it, and of course injuries cannot be predicted, but evidently the Panthers made no attempt (that I'm aware of) to retain Marshall. Therefore, it's another second round pick gone. Yes, we got five seasons out of him, tried to make him a starting CB. It didn't work out.
