What is really our problem?

So if the most experienced and intelligent players are struggling to pick up the offense how can we really expect anyone to pick it up. Considering that, do our coaches need to adapt?

It seems a trifle short-sighted to try and install an incredibly complex offense in a shortened off-season and training camp...

to have that discussion I think we need more information other than speculated interpretations of what those guys said..

maybe they understand the overall concept and are saying it's taking THEM a while to grasp while our coaching staff is instilling bits and pieces at a time..

you would have to ignore that it's already been mentioned that Chud is taking some of what Cam is used to doing at Auburn and applying it here to help with his transition..

I can take one sentence and run with that thought, but what are we really talking about? a conversation based more in speculation.. and due to that, I'll take the wait and see approach rather than draw my own conclusions based on conflicting reports..

doesn't mean it can't be both (Chud installing bits/pieces & Gross, Kalil understanding what Chud is overall trying to do)..

You install as much of the playbook as possible during training camp and then gameplan portions of it for a particular opponent for the regular season. I suspect that what has been installed is a watered down version of it already which will be further watered down and revised once the regular season starts. Over time they will add more in and diversify more. Coaches are adapting and making huge changes based on the shortened preseason. But I am sure it is still overwhelming given all that has to be learned in a few short weeks. But you can be assured that they are already using only part of the playbook.

If they said they were going to use a certain O while interviewing for the job, then they better use said O.

If the players can't get it....get new players.

IMO we will be watching the waiver wire very closely coming from San Diego.

I have a feeling we'll see quite a few personnel changes over the next few years at positions we previously thought were sufficiently filled..

will the huddle explode if Newton got a season ending injury while playing?

Yes it would.

Does anyone know if James Harrison is playing? If so, Carolina should gameplan around him to a degree......or make sure Cam realizes the Steeler LBs + Troy will be looking to pop him if he takes off and goes for that little extra (which Cam always does).

No offensive rhythm, hardly any offensive possessions (hell you can count the possessions the starting O had in the last 2 games in one hand) defensive keeping the Offense of the field, rookie QB looking/playing like a rookie QB, the playbook only being about 15% exposed so far, and did I mention the Defense playing like sh*t?

At least we scored a few touchdowns this preseason

I just think we convinced ourselves our o-line should be no different than 08 which was a mistake. Its gonna be very interesting to see how all of this sh*t plays out

agreed.. even our OLine in 08 was pretty pooty the 1st half of the year..

also, fans shouldn't expect much of a run game if we can't pass the ball from time to time. you don't just magically get great rushing lanes because you assume it's automatic..

I would like to see the panthers play the panthers...Maybe that would show us the reason.

It was called training camp. And the Panthers O-line made Zod predict that McClain could be a pro bowler. Then McClain played a non-Panther O-line and up and disappeared like a fart in the wind. When our horrible D-line looked great against our O-line, what does that tell you?
