Anyone who saw him play in college knew he was a future star. He doesn't have track speed, but he's sneaky fast with good size and amazing hands.

he's a 3rd year player who never saw the field his 1st year.. I find it hard to believe he has nothing to offer. then again, maybe he can't figure it out on the NFL level..

No way. Nicks was just born to play WR.

I remember when he was at Independence and was completely overshadowed Muhammad Massoquio who was the #1 WR prospect in the country and went to UGA. When Nicks committed to UNC, Indy's coach straight up said that Nicks would ultimately be the better WR of the two. That he was rawer at the time, but just had some innate ability that can't be coached. He was right.

Sure he never made huge numbers in the Pats' offense, but, look at their offense. For part of the time Tate was there, he had to share catches with Moss, Welker, Hernandez, Gronkowski, Branch, Woodhead, Green-Ellis, etc. There's a lot of receivers on the team, so, receivers past #1 or #2 aren't going to have huge numbers.

The pats have never had a problem spreading the ball, it's their bread and butter.. So I doubt his performance (or lack there of) had anything to do with that. With that said I'd still probably try to pick him up. We need it.

If he gets cut, I don't see why not. He's got major talent and upside and I think he could steal the #2 or #3 spot from a current player and make a pretty major impact.

I don't see us picking up anymore receivers that aren't game ready and an instant upgrade to what we already have. At this point Tate is nothing special. He might grow into that in time but we already have a ton of guys we brought in to develop. If he isn't a game ready number 2 or 3 guy who can contribute day 1, we just have enough developmental guys already.

TE's are good pass catchers. We are fine there. I wish we could see more of Pilares on with the starters bc i think he could be a stud. Gettis injury I didnt think would hurt as much as it has but if our plan is to use Edwards mainly as a returner, we wouldnt need Tate...I just think depth is a good thing and Tate could be used in the return game.

Barnidge may be headed to the IR with his broken ankle and we need help at WR, Tate is an upgrade at both WR and KR. He's also a 6'1" vertical threat who caught three TD's last year. Only one on our roster to do that last season is now on IR, and he was our other 6'+ vertical threat.

Also, since we'll be using 4 WR sets I'd be surprised if we only kept 5.
