rivera closes practice to media...

Recommended Posts

I see your point. But the media can still do their job even if Rivera closes part of practice. They're just butthurt, its that simple.

The media's job is to serve as a watchdog for what happens. When they can't see what's going on, it's a lot tougher to file a notebook or make an intelligible blog post that people would find interesting. Without the media, people wouldn't know a damn thing about the ins-and-outs of the Panthers. Definitely a necessity, but I wouldn't go complain a lot about it, because the team may see it.

90% of what the media says can be summed up by a combined 1 article a week..

twitter hasn't been around but a short period of time and everyone got along just fine without it..

with more quantity reduces the quality.. fug an hourly blog.

90% of what the media presents to the fans can be summed up in a 1 week report..

needless to say following twitter comes off like Joe Person just reposts Steve Reed's tweets...

"Practice about to start, Rivera standing out on the field"

"Rivera standing out on the field, practice about to start"

"looks like Rivera is still standing on the field"

"Rivera still standing on the field"

So you're saying that Rivera is outstanding in his field? :sosp:

Understand the move. Just hope they don't put the tarps back up. Some of us non-professionals might want to catch a practice sometime.

I don't recall ever reading anything informative from these guys anyway. Maybe "so and so was held out of practice for blah" but the team will tell them that anyway.

I'm actually embarrassed for Gantt the way he is reacting to this.

I'll trade knowing minute-by-minute twitter updates for a fully focused and prepared team on gameday.

There needs to be a certain amount of secrecy regarding installing our playbook anyways and I welcome it.

Reminds me of international news media covering a 'surprise' military attack an hour before the first missile launch.

All those things are essential to accurate, informed coverage. Taking away access comes across as either insecure, paranoid or both.

If they cite "eliminating distractions," they're disingenuous, because you're talking about a dozen people, tops, 100 yards away.

just saying it's funny to watch some of these guys on twitter. there really isn't any valuable information gained regularly. it's mostly regurgitated and useless.

you will miss out by not being able to check a practice from time to time and I understand that concern. but for me, if Rivera can put a quality team on the field in 2-3 years, that's all I care about..
