Unless we rape some team for a perinnial pro-bowler, then option D. (And I am a Hurney fan) We are in rebuilding mode, not win it all mode. Teams who are in the hunt for a ring can afford to throw away future picks. We cannot.

You are absolutely correct. Panthers are NOT going to the playoffs. Trading for a player will hurt the long term success of the franchise.

Right now we are likely to win 4-5 games. If we trade a second rd pick and get a player that helps us win 6-7 instead, not only did we give up the 2nd rd pick, but drop in the 1st rd and all other rounds from a possible top 5 pick to a pick in the 12-15 range. It costs more than just that pick.

I would rather play the young players, develop them, win 4-5 games, and get more good young players next year to add to the rebuilding process. Most successful rebuilding franchises take several years to become great. Colts, Chargers, Steelers, and Patriots did not get great after just 1 season. It takes time to accumulate talent.
