If we trade next years 2nd round pick

I agree, we need to keep our draft picks and pick up more young talent.

Once we have a solid defense and offense, and show that we can win and be competitive, then we can go after the skill positions that we require. Giving away more draft picks when the Panthers have too many unknowns at positions seems counter productive.

You are absolutely correct. Panthers are NOT going to the playoffs. Trading for a player will hurt the long term success of the franchise.

Right now we are likely to win 4-5 games. If we trade a second rd pick and get a player that helps us win 6-7 instead, not only did we give up the 2nd rd pick, but drop in the 1st rd and all other rounds from a possible top 5 pick to a pick in the 12-15 range. It costs more than just that pick.

I would rather play the young players, develop them, win 4-5 games, and get more good young players next year to add to the rebuilding process. Most successful rebuilding franchises take several years to become great. Colts, Chargers, Steelers, and Patriots did not get great after just 1 season. It takes time to accumulate talent.
