Stop it with the oversized DT talk....

As far as CB, I have no idea why Hurney only wanted Rogers for dirt cheap. He only got a 1 year deal in San Francisco. How cheap are we going to be with the biggest hole on our team? I thought we were over the days of trying to fill huge needs with bottom of the barrell talent who would play for 5 bucks an hour and hope they can become starters (which most of the time they couldn't). If we don't pickup anyone, I hope they try Pugh or Martin at CB because they would be our only hope.

Not sure what point you are trying to make?

IMO, Rivera and Co. are not going to waste time looking for upgrades at this point in time. The Panther Front Office has never been shy about trying to bring in players they think can help. This year, however, is different. We have a young team, and they HAVE to find out what they have before they can start plugging in pieces.

Rivera knows they are young, and youth has its drawbacks. But youth grows up, and that can be a good thing... Long term. Unfortunately, most people do not like long term answers.

I am not sure having players changing positions is going to help much either. Our only hope.... that the young players on this team mature into solid football players. Sounds good to me!

Oh yeah, and GOOOOOO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How can you not? Ever watch our DTs the past few years? Or trying to get a number 2 WR before last offseason? You can even throw in backup QB before we drafted Clausen as well. I think CB has become what those positions used to be. An ignored position that we're trying to fill with subpar talent.

 this is precisely why people should be allowed to antagonize from time to time.. so I may be entertained by outbursts like this...

All you are doing is complaining about not finding quality players for specific positions. Unless you have a solution, it is just bitching.

The Panthers have tried to address those needs. They have drafted and signed DTs, so they are trying. They have drafted and signed WRs, so again, they are trying. They have drafted and signed QBs also. It is unfortunate that the Panthers are not living up to you expectations.

Even CB was addressed in the draft, so once againg the Panthers are trying. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doe not. But saying the Panthers are not trying is just not the case.

As almost always, GOOOOOO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is it so hard for you to understand my posts? Just because they signed someone at the position of huge need does not mean they are good quality. We have needed starters at DT, WR, and CB. That's my whole point. Before last offseason, we didn't sign anyone who could start at WR. For the last few years before this year we haven't signed anyone who could start at DT. Now we haven't signed anyone who can start at CB. Yes they have signed DEPTH players at those positions, but not starters when we really needed them.

Both DT and CB need to be addressed, but probably will not be until next year. I believe DT & DE are more urgent than CB though. The Panthers went to the SuperBowl with CB's Reggie Howard, and Terry Cousins. The reason: Jenkins, Buckner, Peppers, and Rucker dominated the LOS, and got after the QB. DT has been an issue with this team ever since Jenkins left.....

Even if we addressed the CB position it wouldn't matter this season, which is arguably what most of us are concerned about.

Great CB's can be "exposed" by poor DL play, there is only so long a defensive back can cover before someone gets open. It's the nature of things in the "illegal contact" age of football.
