Take the Cam Newton pledge...

Zod

Recommended Posts

I pledge my conditional support to the TEAM. I disagree that Cam Newton is the biggest hope for a franchise QB. And since I don't agree with drafting him I will criticize him all while pretending to pull for him. I hope for him to improve and develop into the QB we all hope he will become. But I will be pulling out the 'I told you so' comments at a later date, and won't wait for a season or two to do it. I will provide my unsolicited opinion about Cam with heavy doses of criticism. I promise not to heap undue praise on Cam but can't say the same about the criticism, as well. Finally....I, by the way, did not take any Matt Moore pledge but I did take the Clausen one.

Fixed it for you.

I pledge to support Cam, Clausen or Anderson as our quarterbacks. It is likely each of them will start sometime this year and they need all the support we can give them.

I will not unduly criticize them despite the fact that they will all struggle. I will do my best to not respond to other poster's ignorant comments when they criticize our guys despite all the obstacles they have to overcome. I will also try to ignore all the hysterical posting following a loss which will be frequent especially the first half of the year.

I will resort back to not posting for 24 hours after a loss to avoid all the sky is falling posts and will try to not respond to all the trolls and fishing excursions. And finally I will do my best to make the tailgates where you can actually meet and drink with posters instead of going back and forth in pissing contests on this message board.

This didn't go so well the last time :(

Pretty much.

My opinion: Newton isn't ready to start, and he'll be better off sitting and learning for a year, especially given that the team around him has looked borderline awful at times. Starting him now risks screwing up a player in whom we have a big time investment.

My allegiance: As a fan, I'm behind whomever is out there. We could sign and start Ryan Leaf, and while I might not like the decision I'd cheer for him and hope for his success.

That's fan life.

This.

Dont need to take this pledge, my support for this team will remain in tact longer than Cam under center. I was a Panther fan while Cam and Clausen were picking their noses in grade school, and will be after they retire, the good Lord willing.. My pledge is and always will be to support the Carolina Panthers, regardless of who it is wearing the uniform...

As soon as I saw the sports science on Cam ive been a fan. This dude has sheer physical characteristics that you just dont see everyday. He has the rough mold, now he needs the fine tuning. Watch him surpass Freeman/Ryan/Brees in a few years and be the king of the south. Three preseason games arent enough footage to fully evaluate newton, dont jump the gun and act like a doofus

I _KaseKlosed do hereby pledge that Cam Newton has my full support as the Carolina Panthers starting quarterback. The fact that I did/didn't (circle one) has no bearing on my decision to live in reality and realize Cam is the biggest hope for a franchise QB that we have ever had.

In addition, I realize Cam will at times struggle, and promise not to throw him under the bus at any given opportunity. I understand that Cam is here under a multi year plan, and not a 6 week plan.

By accepting this pledge, your Matt Moore pledge started by some knuckle head last season is null and void.

Clausen was a leap of faith as a second round pick and third QB taken.

Cam was the #1 pick in the draft and getting paid big bucks. To think that expectations should be the same is simply not how he will be judged in reality. There is no sense on this board being out of touch with reality.

No pledge here.
