Take the Cam Newton pledge...

I was a very outspoken opponent of drafting Cam, but the minute the announcement was made I said I was 100% on board and happy to eat crow if it came down to it.

In effect, I made this pledge back in April.

If only half of this board would have taken this pledge for Clausen last season. But they didn't and still won't.

I'll take a pledge to the QB that wins games. I don't give a fug if it's Anderson. Win baby, win.

Oh, for sure Cam is not ready. His passes aren't accurate. He his technique needs work. He's going to miss guys completely, struggle reading defenses, and take a bit of a beating sometimes this season. It's not going to be pretty, it's going to be a long and tough road.

But damn if I don't have faith in the kid. Sign me up.

And the trick is to enjoy the ride.

We all think we want to win every game and go to the Super Bowl every year, but in reality, it's not as much fun as reaching it after watching the struggle to get there.

I hope all of you remember how incredible it was to watch Steve Smith torch the Rams in double overtime, or DeShaun Foster's incredible run vs the Eagles. Those were special moments as a fan.

Winning is always fun, but it is more fun when the team goes beyond your expectations.

Not sure I can really buy into him as a franchise QB, holmes. Hopefully he does well but my stance that we should have gotten a decent veteran QB to allow him to develop behind will continue until proven wrong.

I don't and haven't ever planned to throw him under the bus just for the sake of doing so. But if he stinks it up and continues to do so, I just can't bury my head and say "Oh well."
