Some of the complaints in here amuse me.

Among the funnier ones, the posts where people who are, in reality, simply being asked to behave like grown-ups calling other people immature and/or babified. It'll take a few minutes for the irony of that one to sink in :lol:

So sorry that you guys can't act all big and bad from behind your keyboards anymore. It's so unfair. How will you ever be able to have a good quality discussion without the ability to resort to petty insults? After all, those are hallmarks of intelligent discourse, aren't they?

the people who are going to get the majority of the bans are the ones who are new or young fans that get baited by veteran posters, *if* this does get enforced for long enough. But I understand this is like a cycle where Zod every once in a while needs to restore order before this place becomes a complete poo spectacle. Unfortunately it's hard to appeal to a variety of new posters who want to speak their opinion on a team when you're a newb and get a passive aggressive bait response and reply with "fug you asshole!!!" which is like an automatic 5 points in the infraction forum.

there's a contingent of posters on here who specialize in subversive troll-baiting. I know because I've purposely done it before.

This is a very valid point. That is the reason i will be infracting people for it. Might be the right thing to do. But Im not going to let people get away with it any more until I either re-sign as mod or am removed.

All that's really being asked is for people not to resort to personal attacks. Essentially, debate the idea, not the person. If you think the idea is wrong, silly, goofy or whatever, you can say so. It's always been possible to do that without calling the person presenting the idea a moron, retard, or whatever else.

Maybe by November I'm going to be in California at a bar with TheRealDeal pissed drunk and flicking our lighters in unison in memory of Bradley Nowell when whatever poo garage band that plays that night tries to cover Santeria.

For me, it just boils down to a couple of things:

One, criticize the idea, not the person delivering it. No insults, no character assassination, no imputing evil motives, none of that. Stick to the content of the post. Leave the person posting alone.

Two, if you think someone's baiting you, don't take it. I've stayed out of many a thread because I thought the discussion was dumb or the person posting it was just looking to draw attention to themselves. It's tough sometimes, but doable.

Three, stay out of this forum for at least 48 hours after a loss :sosp:
