The Steelers D is licking it's chops as we speak. I wouldn't be surprised if Cam gets his first Pick 6 against them. They were unforgiving against the Falcons.

True test for Cam this week, it'll be interesting to see how he responds... well, at least in the first 2 series when the Steelers are still playing starters.

Hopefully we can have some good drives against their reserves and build up some confidence in the offense heading into the regular season.

Meh, 4th game of the preseason, basically a throwaway. But yeah, it'll be nice if we can show some...I dunno, competence?

Honestly, I'm much more concerned about our defense than anything after getting carved up by the Dolphins and Bengals. Especially the Bengals in what was approximately starters v starters. It looked like a mismatched college game out there - they must've averaged at least 8 ypc in the 1st half.

Again, Cam hasn't 'wowed' anybody throwing the ball either, the only reason he gets the nod is because he's Riveras' guy and he can run.

The second he didn't fall flat on his face when TC opened he was the regular season starter. I don't know why each week we all act surprised at this type of news.

I read that to say that Cam is the regular seasons tarter, however they are aware that being exposed before you ready has risks and so they are going to be careful with him.

Makes sense to me to be honest, however I would approach it the other way round.

I just don't understand why Anderson isn't in the running as a starter for us. Why are they pushing for Cam to be the starter so badly? Ticket sales is the only reason i can figure but we need to look at the big picture. Let Cam sit and learn until he's ready regardless how long it takes.

They know we're gonna be a 4-12 team this year, misewell just go ahead and let him get his feet wet and have to deal with the growing pains. He's the future, get him out there and let's just hope we see improvement throughout the year.

still don't understand why we aren't announcing he is starting vs arizona... that quote doesn't really resolve it much for me... are they afraid if they tell him he is that guy he'll stop 'progressing in the right direction'?

I honestly think that it's good that Rivera isn't annointing Cam as the starting QB against the Cardinals. He is still in the learning and growing phrase. IMO, thse preseaon games are nothing more than him going through training against his furture rivals and the coaches observing him just like they would during regular TC.

The reason why Rivera isn't announcing Cam the starter is because he wants him to 'earn' it. Yes, Rivera wants to give Cam the job, but he doesn't want it to play out that way. He wants Cam to feel like he earned it, and he wants the rest of the team to feel like he earned it. Rivera is giving him every opportunity to 'earn' the job, because he wants Cam to start day 1. Instead, Cam has not and will not earn the job before the season starts.. but Rivera will end up giving him the job anyway.. so Rivera's plan will ultimately be for naught.
