Cams distribution of the ball

if the QB means so little, why exactly did we draft one #1 overall?

I know it's hard, but it's okay to admit Cam isn't playing well. He's a rookie. Maybe him not playing well is expected... but maybe it also means we should start someone else.

The entire team was responsible for that terrible performance, and since he is on the team, that includes Cam.

I am not belittling the qb position. I am just not down and out Cam. I honestly believe we have bigger problems on offense than QB.

Even Rivera said he was never brought into be a savior but rather the leader of our team. I think he's doing a fine job all things considered so far. He has taken 60 preaseason snaps and the worst thing he's done is throw innacruate passes that and displayed bad footwork. The best thing he's done is find T.E's down the field, stay poised in the pocket, flash the ability to take off andrun for good gains if none of his recievers get open. His deep passes are inconsisent but electric when on.

Now as far the start someone else. Why? Do you think Clausen or Anderson would give us a better chance to win right now?

I do think Clausen would give us a better chance to win games, and I had thought Anderson would have too since he knows the offense etc but apparently not.

I'm eager to see Newton with another week with our starters, I'm just worried that if our offense is as dysfunctional as it appears, it might hurt his development. Seems like this offense is going to need a quarterback to do more than is reasonable to expect of a rookie, at least early.

Clausen gives us a better chance to have 100% of completions to RBs within six yards of the LOS, and he gives us a better chance of a 0% 3rd down conversion rate as well as an average of 9 sacks per game. If that equates to victory, yes. He should start. I've said last year wasn't his fault but when you have an awful OL, and your players go through all this training to win games, and your owner spends this money to win games, you put the player out there who can make things happen with his legs and give us a fighting chance.

Cam's physical gifts and actual presence on their own seperate him from Clausen. He is not making retarded decisions out there and causing turnovers. Nobody's taking us to the promise land this year but I think Cam will keep us more competetive.

If he goes out and plays bad enough to justify Clausen coming in then that's on him. However there is no way Clausen has played good enough or shown any reason that he gives us a better chance to win than Cam at this point.

We would have had negative points agianst the Bengals if Clausen was out there with that pressure

Doesn't Clausen have more 3rd down conversations than Cam?

It looks to me that the game plan aganst the Bengles was primarily to try connect up with the wide outs. THIS DOOMED our performance brcause you cannot throw deep if your OL can't give you that extra second or two. Plius oponents are naturally going to cover deep with Smitty on the field.

I have no problem with shorter passes to backs and TEs until the safeties move up a bit. This is something I feel Cam was not to do because they insisted he throw deep. Tha poo will not fly. The coaches will change this in real games.

maybe everyone on the entire offense sucks but d-will, olsen and cam newton :willy_nilly:

wasn't the reason we sucked last year with clausen that it started and ended with qb play?

it takes another QB that people like in order for them to admit this basic truth.. it started with Fox and Davidson. obviously our OLine was a huge part of that, considering it took Goodson late in the year to be the 1st back to put up 100 yards..

QB was 3rd/4th in line... it's amazing people really thought a rookie QB wasn't going to have issues, and yet you still see people amazed that Cam isn't going to have issues as well..

without the pieces around any QB in their rookie or sophmore year, I don't foresee any success without better coaching, OLine play, and a run game... unless they convert to a WCO..
