I believe the 49ers were going to take him with the pick that we traded for, which is why we pulled the trigger. They may still pick him up for cheap and try to get something out of him.

There's a school of thought that you can measure how good your team really is by how many of your big cuts get picked up elsewhere.

I haven't measured how we're doing on that front, but my sense is we're not doing as well as, say, the Patriots on that front.
